Today I received an order from bricks and pieces

I ordered element: 6012805

instead I received: 6044725

I checked the confirmation again and it actually comes up as design element 14395 (correctly it should be 76768). Has anyone ever had the same problem? Ordering a specific element and receiving something similar but not the one that you needed?

This may not seem like a huge difference but I use these elements for building trees and the part that I wanted has one place more to attach leaves to...

Hi, I had similar issue some time ago, where parts I received were in a different colour - i.e. not that I ordered. Made a call to Customer Service, explained my issue and got a refund for incorrect pieces.

You might try getting correct piece on Bricklink instead.

They introduced the version of the arch with the 1 stud wide flat underside to replace one that was a smooth curve but then seemingly realised it was a mistake. So they have apparently gone back to an all smooth curve. They may have run out of the flat bottomed ones so substituted the new ones (or the older ones). They probably should have contacted you to confirm if this was OK though.

Yes, thats the way it had happened. Got a call today from their customer service (very friendly people btw) and it turned out that the parts I wanted are no longer in production.

As far as the parts are concerned I think both are good. However, I like the one with the flat underside better. I use it for building trees and I can attach an additional leave underside - which I cannot do with the newer element.

IMHO they should have either declared that element out of stock or attached a note that if I order this element I will get the other one :)

You'll find that they offer the newer version instead of the older version in many sets that came out before the newer one even existed. They see it as having the same function, so offer it as a replacement part. It's a pain, isn't it!

Truth be told its very similar in its funtion and design. I guess it all depends on what you want to do with it... to me the older version was far superior and MORE functional - hopefully Lego surveys this forum and reconsiders the design

Yes, it's a shame as that tree usage is quite useful but then it messes with arch shapes for buildings. Can't win. Oh well.
