Yules Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Is it possible to make a heavy gear mech that can fit a minifig and also is in scale with the minifig? in other words just like it would be 15 feet in real life compared to a human could the lego version be like only 2 or maybe 3 minifig tall? The closest I ever got was this: Quote
Isundir Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 The smallest minifig holding Mech I've ever seen was this one, brilliant build and very inspirational: Far-Eastern Steam Walkerette Mk. LXXII (interior) by Beau Donnan, on Flickr On his Flickr account there are more pics. Quote

anothergol Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 I recently made a small one, but I've seen much smaller ones, up to 1x or 1.5x a minifig, it all depends on the definition of "fitting". But I don't think that you can do a 1x scaled one without using lots of "illegal" techniques and/or sticking a minifig head on a mech making it look like it's holding it. Quote

That looks very good, but is it possible to build something that looks like this? https://heavygear.com/gallery/concept/Hg_hunter_egress.jpg That looks very good, but is it possible to build something that looks like this? https://heavygear.com/gallery/concept/Hg_hunter_egress.jpg And also could be this tall? http://www.warbard.ca/files/hgear01.jpg Quote
anothergol Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 I suggest google image search ("lego tiny mech"), you will see a lot of inspiration in there. There's a limit to what can be done, but it can be tiny & look great, yes. But you'll have to forget about normal plate/stud connections, to use clips mostly. Quote
fred67 Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 I recently made a small one... That's really cool, anothergol. Quote
Isundir Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 (edited) That looks very good, but is it possible to build something that looks like this? https://heavygear.co...nter_egress.jpg Definitely reminds me of a MOC I saw recently on Facebook, damn took me like 10/15 minutes to find but here it is: 1. NMS-01 Front 1 by Sam Cheng, on Flickr Again just go to Flickr he has like 30 pictures of the mechsuit ;) You really should look into Facebook's LEGO groups specifically 'LEGO MOC Worldwide' 9 out of 10 times a post is either a Mech or a Robot and almost every week I see a Mech Suit get posted about the size you want with space for a Minifig inside, there are smaller ones then this one but I thought this was most similar to the style you are looking for. I really hate it when somebody decapitates a minifig and sticks it on a supposed hardsuit/mechsuit/powerarmor, unless it's meant to be a cyborg or something, maybe I should have more 'imagination' that it's actually inside but I prefer it really actually fitting inside. Your suit looks great by the way My only criticism could be that the arms are a bit too thin, specifically the one holding the Minigun'ish weapon. The one with the chainsaw/sword looks fine to me. anothergol Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 unless it's meant to be a cyborg or something yeah, I've done that for a couple of creepy robots :) Quote
Yules Posted July 7, 2015 Author Posted July 7, 2015 (edited) And what about this? This is my second attempt at building a heavy gear mech that is in scale to a mini-fig The details aren't complete yet, but it's just to give you an idea So tell me what you think and if you have any suggestions I would like to hear them Edited July 9, 2015 by Yules Quote
