Is an AAA battery box still too big, I would have thought that would be smaller than anything you could do with AA. The other solution might be the old style 9v battery box with an adaptor cable, it is just a little smaller than the AAA box.

Wow! Thanks, that's what I was thinking of. They're $10 on his Web site. It sounds worth it. Has anybody used these?

What about one of these with a custom adapter soldered together?

It has roughly the same capacity as the Lego Lipo battery and the same voltage.

Yes, because there would be no current limitations. Unfortunately there would also be no low voltage protections and you would need a Lipo compatible charger.
