DuckBricks Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 (edited) Hello Eurobricks, First of all, if this topic belongs in Culture and Multimedia, I will move it, and it is only here because the main Lego Worlds thread is here as well. Anyway, I recently had to blow away the Windows BootCamp partition on my Mac and lost all of my Lego Worlds progress. I was a bit annoyed as I thought it would save on Steam (which it doesn't), but I dug around and found this link on how to hack Lego Worlds. Unfortunately, it was really unclear on how to extract the game.dat file, so I had to figure it out on my own. I'll be posting a detailed, easy to understand video tutorial soon, so keep an eye out for that if you want to hack Lego Worlds. My original purpose was to just regain all of my lost items, but while digging through the code, I found a BUNCH of cool, unused characters, items, props, sets, animals, and vehicles! I'm making a miniseries showcasing these unused features. One of the funny things is that the game designers left little remarks about each unused item as a comment; one for a "Super Pony" (which, when modded in, is just a regular reskin of a horse) says something along the lines of "not added because Lego is being extremely fussy." ;) EDIT: To quote jamesster, "Oh, as for the "Super Pony" - the "super" characters are generic character/creature models that can have textures swapped out and accessories equipped to make more specific characters. All the minifigures build on top of the "super minifigure", for example. The "super pony" is a generic pony that can be reskinned into more variations of pony models. " Without further ado, here's the vids Hacking Tutorial: TBA Unused Characters: Unused Vehicles: Unused Props (video by jamesster): Unused Animals: TBA Unlimited Treasure Chest Hack (video by jamesster): Edited June 21, 2015 by legozebra Quote

Phoxtane Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 Oh good. I thought this was going to be something along the lines of 'hide yo passwords, hide yo credentials' - guess I was wrong. I'm guessing there's no 'Super Ground Vehicle' because they're not all the same model - the tractor is different from the two or three buggies I've come across, for example. Quote

Yeah, though there are also template files for characters, vehicles, etc that have standard values for stats and abilities and such. So most characters/vehicles/creatures (they all use the same system, hence why a lot of unused creatures like the alligator are loaded as playable characters; the game doesn't know they're not supposed to be playable) reference a standard configuration file, and then add their own unique properties to it. And yeah, "hacked" is kind of a strange word to use instead of modding, had me worried for a second too. BTW, TT Games is considering official modding support when they get the game a bit more polished. Until then they don't recommend it as they're still changing how the game works, and mods are likely to break: http://steamcommunit...85406675832629/ Quote Will LEGO Worlds support Mods?Right now, we are not supporting Mods, and we want to ensure that we get the base game working correctly for everyone first. We will explore supporting Mods at a later date once we are satisfied (and you are satisfied) that the game is stable enough to consider opening up these avenues. Please also bear in mind that any Modding currently breaches the terms of the EULA, meaning we will not be able to assist you if a Mod damages your game in any way. It’s also worth noting that we will be making massive amounts of changes of the Early Access schedule, and that Mods that work now, may break down the line, or possibly cause issues with your game data later. We strongly suggest that you do not modify the game files at this time! I really hope they do end up going for official modding support, mods have played a crucial role in the sustained popularity of games like Minecraft - LEGO Worlds' biggest and most obvious competitor.
