Bob De Quatre Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 "On Arium Major, a tree decided to grow on a cliff. The other trees mocked him, saying that after some time he'll fall in the water. But the tree didn't listened to them. He choose a nice place, just by the edge of the cliff, above the red lake, and took root. Rewarding his bravery, the bacterias that colored the lake started dwelling on his leaves, coloring them with a bright pink hue. He was the most beautiful tree of the region, but in all his beauty, he is lonely..." I decided to build a microscale landscape, with a purposely blocky style. After spending some time building, it became clear that I won't have all the bricks needed to create what I had in mind... So I turned to LDD and Bluerender... Quote
aeralure Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 (edited) Beautiful! Just as you say in your story. I really love this. I have a perfect sense of dramatic scale and it looks exactly as it would had I zoomed out of a scene like this. A nice touch too in your story too explaining why the trees leaves are colored as they are. Edited June 19, 2015 by aeralure Quote
Mike S Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 Beautiful! And you had to create the build in the shape of the Octan logo didn't you! Quote
Kodan Black Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 Very zen and well thought out. Clearly the planet favors our corporation! Quote
aeralure Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 (edited) Beautiful! And you had to create the build in the shape of the Octan logo didn't you! Oh that escaped me! It was ridiculously obvious too on hindsight. Fantaaaaaaastic little extra. Truly. Edited June 19, 2015 by aeralure Quote
narbilu Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 Fabulous... No other words. The best one yet Bob Quote
pombe Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 Wow. Another incredibly beautiful, yet elegant, build. Quote
mccoyed Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 Great build in a truly unique style. Might have to ape this a bit in real bricks next time I do a micro! Quote
Garmadon Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 Excellent work Bob, the red works very well for the water and the pink leaves on the tree are fantastic! I really like the smooth and blocky aspects of this build (yes, that probably was a contradiction, but you know what I meant! ) The Octan symbol is very nice as well! Quote
LittleJohn Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 Excellent build! The rockwork is great and I love the Octan logo Quote
Legocity2713 Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 WOW! Very creative. I love two way builds like this. Excellent job man. Quote
mrcp6d Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 Lovely. The blockiness looks good here for sure, and of course the Octan logo is a fantastic hidden addition! Quote
shmails Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 It has a very Kung Fu Panda feeling to the tree, and that is a good thing!!! Fantastic work Bob. Quote
Bob De Quatre Posted June 20, 2015 Author Posted June 20, 2015 Thanks everyone The logo wasn't intended, just saw it when I was trying to find the best angle for the render. Oh and I never watched Kung Fu Panda, maybe I should Quote
Lord Tyrus Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 Beautiful, and you managed to sneak in the logo too! Very good! Quote
LucasLaughing Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 Awesome work! I really like your landscaping, and the microscale trees look very good. Quote
NuckElBerg Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 Thanks everyone The logo wasn't intended, just saw it when I was trying to find the best angle for the render. Oh and I never watched Kung Fu Panda, maybe I should Maybe you just inherently have a thing for red, green and white? Anyway, beautiful build, really love the serenity of the landscape, the story... truly a great example for what challenge builds should strive for. Quote
Andromedas Gates Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 The bad, bad judges awarded you 8 points. Quote
