Last night I was organizing my "collection" of instruction booklets and once again got pissed. Why the dickens can't Lego make them uniform in size ? Obviously they can't produce them in just one size because of the huge difference in set's sizes, but why not use a template of I don't know, three or four sizes - and stick to that - across all lines? Even in the same set, with more then one booklet, they manage to use different sizes. Right now it's a PITA to store them and it's VERY common to open a brand new set box and get the instructions folded up in odd angles.

I agree, a few standard sizes for the instructions would be great. Maybe a size for the $5-20 sets, the $21-60, and then the 61 dollar and up sets?

As for the instructions being bent and folded, I can't stand this. Especially when they are bent in half. This makes the pages flip when you try to lay them flat on a table and are building. You have to constantly flip the page back, try to bend them the other way, and place objects on them to keep them in place. It's pretty annoying for something that could easily be fixed.

I store my instructions in accordion folders from Target which works well for all sizes, so it doesn't bother me too much.

I would agree that the bent instructions is the worst piece of Lego QC. Printing, bricks, everything else is in good shape, but instructions almost seem deliberately bent to cram into the boxes. What's funny, is that the boxes have enough room to have the instructions lay flat on one side, but I get some many instructions that are almost wrapped around a bag of the Lego in the set.

Yeah, I agree with this... In times when I don't have enough time for MOCing, I'm collecting and organizing old LEGO manuals... I used plastic folders for display, and some fit superbly: One-sheet instructions and larger ones. The others can easily fall out when you move the folders around a bit. Event stacking them is a problem with so many sizes.
