Bricksandblocksreviews Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 Has anybody ever wanted to see a theme or set for Ridley Scott's 1979 movie "Alien" like I have? It would be so cool to have a set based on my favorite movie! Quote
Dannylonglegs Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 Has anybody ever wanted to see a theme or set for Ridley Scott's 1979 movie "Alien" like I have? It would be so cool to have a set based on my favorite movie! Yes. Very much yes. This is my favorite film as well, followed by Blade runner, and I wish Lego would make an "Alien" set, but there's no way that's going to happen! Too graphic. ~Insectoid Aristocrat Quote
Bricksandblocksreviews Posted June 17, 2015 Author Posted June 17, 2015 I agree it would be too graphic, but it was just an idea Quote

I am so jealous of the talent of those who can make a convincing xenomorph out of bricks, because their organic biomechanical aesthetic does not translate easily into Lego form. ~Insectoid Aristocrat Quote
Missing Brick Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 (edited) The trouble with brick-built aliens is the head always looks too blocky at minifig scale - typically being made from a single curved slope brick. So when you put them in a brick-built environment it's hard to visually distinguish them from other brick-built objects. They really need an organic head shape that's distinct from other bricks. Fortunately there are some nice custom Aliens minifigs available from Blacktron http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=58464&st=75 I'm working on a new moc using Blacktron's figs which I hope to finish soon. By the way, I love your work. I liked a couple of those on Flickr a week back. So good! Yeah, I've tried making a xenomorph out of bricks, and it's not easy to do right. Personally my favorite Lego "Alien" MoC has to be this one: http://www.brothers-brick.com/2007/05/19/arvos-chestburster/ ~Insectoid Aristocrat Quote
Missing Brick Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 Thanks Danny! I really like that Arvo moc too. I also like GrantMasters alien stuff: (sorry - can't embed a pic since Yahoo broke flickr on my ipad2) Quote
MAB Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 Arvo Brothers are now selling their Alien Project book. SPOILER: it is wonderful :-) Quote
Missing Brick Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 I brought the book and built the figure: It's totally awesome. Stands half a metre tall, packed with fantastic details and cool building techniques. The hardback instruction book is super - better than Lego quality. The model goes together like a dream. Parts cost about £120 in total. Highly recommended. There's a Brickset review here : http://brickset.com/article/17841 And here's the Arvo Brothers website : http://www.arvobrothers.com/index.html Quote
