SBB FFS RE 4/4 II 11223

Hi everyone,

as promised in one of my last topic (http://www.eurobrick...l=+g1700 +cargo) I have now finished my Swiss project which consists in an evolution of RE 4/4 made by James Mathis and the addition of Inter City wagons of Swiss Federal Railways. :classic:

re44-03.jpg

The locomotive is longer than that of James to respect the proportions of the original and with a more realistic detail for the pantographs and for the roof, which has a more compact profile.

As usual I added lights to distinguish my model.

The idea was to replicate one of the convoys found on Märklin catalog presented in the year 2014, a convoy that I have often seen in the neighboring Switzerland.

Excuse me while i spend at least 10 minutes getting my jaw off the floor... first off LT12V I want to say how amazing and impressive your models have been in general..

I have to say I really like the way you did the front of the locomotive and how you did the small doors on the train cars, do those doors open? I also have a question, I spotted what seemed to be a 9V battery hooked up to your receiver, how well does that last for you locomotive? Does it have a good run time? Would you recommend it for standard running?

Amazing Job!!

Very nice work with the lights!

Thanks THERIZE, the third light on top was quite difficult this time!

Thanks Railco but the credit for the front of the locomotive goes to James Mathis

The doors of the wagons are fake, they're built with an offset of an half plate to be more pleasant.

The 9v battery is used just to feed the six leds, on the contrary the engine is powered by six AA batteries ...however in my collection I've used the 9v battery with good results ...but just for shunting:

Nice work on all of your locomotives. Your little shunter gives me a lot of inspiration for my little HK Porter yard train I want to make for my layout.

That is an excellent build, clever use of the slopes and windscreens to get the slope on the nose. Are those 2x2x3 clear slopes for the side winidows something that came out of the lego model shop? The cars look great, simple application of the standard train windows but when you get everything else right like this they REALLY look real. Great work (as usual)

Another amazing train from you  The cars look great with their lenght compared to the locomotive. Maybe you could add a small yellow stripe on top of the train door of the first class car, also the windows of the first class car are more apart from each other than those of the second class (yes I just have to watch out of my window to see trains like this, so I know such details  ).

Oh man, I love the passenger cars. They're the most realistic I've seen and the livery reminds me of the old British Rail intercity livery. (The engine's good too of course )

I'm glad to hear this from you!

Now I want to use non-PF LEDs in my trains. :classic:

Wise choice: you can buy hundred leds for few euros

Thank you very much zephyr1934, these cars are really simple but the stickers (as you know) make the difference

You're right but I didn't want to overdo with too many stickers

LT12V, this train is a great rendition to the original train and a good MOD of James Mathis's design.

You're too kind *thomas*!

I never thought about using a standard battery box...

These batteries don't last long but are perfect for a compact design

Amazing work - excellent nose!

Fantastic work! I love the details in the locomotive. And those passenger cars! Wow!

Thanks to you all: Princess Amy, harnbak and smokestream888

Those carriages look amazing.

...and those carriages are looking perfect.

Thanks, that livery is easily recognizable and highly effective!

amazing work, you perfectly captured the angles, and especially the passanger waggons. My only problem - I'm sure it is only mine - that lights are not powered using PF-leds and it's not purely LEGO, but fitting all cables for lights and buying at least 5 pair of PF-leds is much more problem than simply putting some own-designed light system inside.

Well done! All the details just great. The length and love the coaches and touches to make this a real brick train of excellence.

Thanks for the credit. I appreciate that, but even more so I like how much better you made it.

Is there any chance to see this train in action?

May be one day...

The PF LEDs are too expensive and less flexible than an own project

nice train

Thanks Q3671!

Thanks to you James, this locomotive is epic and I think that these wagons are the right completion of this train :classic:

I just love how you build the front parts of your locomotives. I would never got the idea like that. And the wagons... they look better than the real ones. Wish I could build such masterpieces like you do. Genious works... Genious.
