Hey Peeps,

I'm curious to know if most collectors strictly stick to specific themes for their collection. I'm an AFOL and working professional. I could afford to buy most (if not all) sets released each year, obviously my interest excludes duplo/juniors. However I'm running out of storage room, plus I don't get the time to open all the sets! So, my dilemma is the following - I just like all themes for mostly their exotic colours / unique parts / printed bricks / unique minifigs. But I know I should just consolidate to maybe five themes a year only.

Anyone else in the same situation? Interested to know your situation.

Unless you want to spend lots of money, you should stick to specific themes. It is also advisable to not be a completionist.

I know for my own collection, I don't have the time to MOC as much as I want, nor do I have the money. If I buy a few select sets on sales, I am lucky. It means I've missed out on a few sets over the last few years. But setting up a budget and sticking with it will make it easier for you to know what you actually want and what you can live without.

I originally was buying every set I could find, but then I realized I just don't care about some sets, so why am I buying it? Like you, because of the unique colors or pieces or figures...it all gets thrown into boxes anyway, so what's the purpose.
