Marius Posted August 25, 2007 Posted August 25, 2007 Nice argument, but why not just make 2 mechs instead? Resources. It would be a waste of resources to make 2 mechs. Also, the robots themselves are mass-produced units, it seems. So, why make a whole new production line just to create computers to steer your mech, when you have the perfect control units being mass-produced anyways!? I like this crawler thingy. It actually looks cool with the mech docked to it. Also, that little mech looks cool. Quote
xwingyoda Posted August 25, 2007 Posted August 25, 2007 Welcome to EB btw !! If you don't have the time to do a review right away, could you take more pics of the box art please, that would be cool ;-) Didn't had the chance to build it (deep in castle right now) but I still feel the set is great. The box is as big as the 7707 striking venom and I suppose the build will be close to that size. Anyway, this set is being sold at a discount in Singapore (S$69.90 ~ US$46 vs SRP S$101). I was pretty excited when the set was made available here when it isn't listed elsewhere. :-D He he, thats what I love about EF, its merely out and its already on sale X-D That means a lot !! I think they really should start a big come back to the source with great looking and sturdy mechs like Supernova and ditch all those huge worthless sets !! Lets face it, its more of a kid's theme and what kid has that amount of space to display really huge models ?? It seems like the official name is now "Combat Crawler". At least this is what the guy at the local lego shop told me from his list of sets from Lego. Yeay way better :-| Thanks for all the welcome messages.... I hope to find time to open this and attempt a review. I started collecting Lego this year (stopped for 12 years) after falling for Exo-force. Somehow things went out of hand and now I have gotten myself hooked on Castle, Vikings, Batman, Star Wars and Mars Mission too! :-P Thats what I call ending a dark age :-D When I did, I only started with SW and now its everywhere but it was gradual :-P And no Spongebob in your list 8-| ts ts ts :-P *yoda* Quote
Corvus Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 FAIL....FAIL. ......FAIL. I couldn't agree more. These pics are better, but it's still not much. I suppose it does have more playability than SV, but until I have it; FAIL. Quote
Hinckley Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 When I first saw Exo-Force I felt the same way, but I have since got over it. Yes, it doesn't make sense, but like many stories you have to accept some silly design concepts and see things as a whole. For example1. All Mecha stories - Mecha simply make no sense at all, but they sure are cool 2. Spaceships banking in Star Wars - Silly. But it is what people expect even though it is completely wrong. 3. The guns and the solar system of 100 planets in Serenity - Both silly, but the concept was a western in space. ...I can go on for a while. But in this case, the story is Robots versus Humans, thus there are Robot minifigs, even though both sides pilot giant robots. It's just one of those things. *wacko* All I heard was "geek geek geek, blah blah blah." :-P Quote

iamded Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 Well, it still looks exactly the same. I picked up the catalogue with that pic (and the Dwarfs Mining pic) a couple of weeks ago. It's not that exciting in my opinion, but the names of 08's sets sound interesting, I hope they look as good. But it's nice to see better pics of the set anyway. Quote
KMOI Posted August 26, 2007 Author Posted August 26, 2007 Welcome Ultraman! Sorry about my late greetings. I got hospitalized for food poisining the day I posted this. :-P I started collecting Lego this year (stopped for 12 years) after falling for Exo-force. Somehow things went out of hand and now I have gotten myself hooked on Castle, Vikings, Batman, Star Wars and Mars Mission too! Dude, that's one heck of a way to come blasting out of your dark ages! Pretty awesome how you found this set on sale too! Anyhoo, as for the set, I'm looking at it again and it doesn't seem *as* great as when I first saw the photos. I mean, the idea is absolutely phenominal, but the whole "steampunk" look of the spider-ish thing doesn't do it too much good, especially with the overly-exposed technic pin holes everywhere. I'm not one who complains about tiny little holes in the cockpit or the fact that the backsides of most Exo-Force mechs are pretty bare, but having this many pin-holes, it makes it look like it just got used as target practice for a gattling gun. If it were a little sleeker like the Venom, I would consider buying this! Quote
VBBN Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 A BZPower meber spotted this at his Toys 'R' Us. I hope it's at mine. (not really. I don't like this sets as much as the others...) Quote
SirNadroj Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 Why is everything special edition now-a-days!? :-D I guess its just a marketing ploy so they ca charge more. :-| Quote
Siegfried Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 If you want to see the instructions go here. Quote
john cleese Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 sinner it seems all that site does is connect to peeron. the instructions are probably going to be here first. I hate peerons silly policy, that they will only show instructions scans for sets that are 3 years old. Quote
Siegfried Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 sinner it seems all that site does is connect to peeron. the instructions are probably going to be here first. You are clicking on the wrong link. The seven digit number goes to the instructions, the set number goes to Peeron. Trust me; I have the instructions! I hate peerons silly policy, that they will only show instructions scans for sets that are 3 years old. It wouldn't matter in this case anyway as it is a new set. After looking at the instructions it is a better set than what it first seemed, but it is still just parts for me if I buy it... Quote
john cleese Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 (edited) I was clicking the seven digit numbers. All i do is get sent to a section of the lego site (which it says is down) or peeron. Edited August 28, 2007 by john cleese Quote

Well you shouldn't get sent to Peeron from that link ever, but Lego do sometimes ban IPs or countries for various reasons. To eliminate user error, direct links are below. Book 1 Book 2 Quote

Corvus Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 (edited) "Combat Crawler X2" !?! better than Bad Guy Vehicle, but not by much. |-/ Hm, fifty bucks, I'm gonna pass this one up, unless Yoda does a review on it. (Strange, whenever Yoda reviews a set, I always end up getting it... *wacko* ) Edited August 29, 2007 by Mr. Mandalorian Quote
