larry marak Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 Maybe someone at TLG noticed that the patent for that particular shape of 1x1 cone which Megabloks had is now in public domain and they decided to switch to a better engineered mold. Wouldn't be the first time TLG has adopted Megablok elements. Ultimately, Lego, Mega, and Best Lock are all in the same business. Quote

You are such a M#g& Bl#ks fanboy. :-P TLC may be in the same business M!g@, but even ignoring part quality, M&g* still have horrid set design. Until they learn how to make a good looking set with good MOC properties they will always be a distant second. Quote

El Bucanero Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 I just checked my Knight's Catapult Defense but the cones are exaclty the same as my other "regular" cones. Could it be possible this is US (or whatever place) only? Mr Tiber Quote

KMOI Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 And in my Mars Mission Astro Fighter, the trans-blue cone was still of the "regular" variety as well. Perhaps it's just for some exclusive sets which require more strain on these cones? Then again, I don't think the cones on Yoda's Spongebob sets were of this same shape either, from what his review said. Most curious indeed! Quote
alex54 Posted August 26, 2007 Author Posted August 26, 2007 Could it be possible this is US (or whatever place) only? It's not US only, because I'm French :-D ! And KMOI, don't take *yoda* for me! In fact, in my Spongebob set, the cones are like alawys (it's the orange one in the pics from the first page of this topic). And I don't think that those cones are made especially for the castle boat, because I don't see why the utility of making a new mold for cones where some small teeth are in it! On the contrary, the design is worst, because you don't have the feeling that it's just one big tooth (cone+small tooth). Am I really the only one in theEB community with this kind of cones? I will call TCL maybe... Quote
Siegfried Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 These are Mega Bloks... :-/ Indeed. Many people like these, but I don't. Especially since they cheated with the head and hands. Quote

I see it more (if your theory's correct) as a way to emulate their competitor, just as they have done to them. Perhaps to simply piss them off even lol. It's not really a "superior" design... it's just... different. Quote
