samlr Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 Hello everyone, I've just bought an Boba Fett minifigure with printed arms. It was sold by a very serious seller as being the Boba Fett minifig from the Cloud City set 10123. The thing is, the printings are not exactly the same as on the ones I find on BL / Brickset and others ... I'm worried it might be a custom/replica/fake : Can any of you experts out there please tell me if I am right be worried or not ? You can find other pictures here : https://www.flickr.c...57652036751409/ Thank you ! Quote
notaromantic Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 Why - did you purchase that - without referencing the original, first? I guess that's my answer. Quote
samlr Posted May 8, 2015 Author Posted May 8, 2015 (edited) Love your answer ! I - did purchase that thing - because it´s real Lego, because the seller has a big reputation, because I can go back to the shop tomorrow, because it was possible to have it for a reasonable (not low) price for the market, and because I want it (the original) ! To be honest when I bought it, I was quite sure it was not authentic but I had a some doubts. Now, I'd rather buy a non authentic and bring it back then miss an authentic ... However, I don't know what - that - is ? Edited May 8, 2015 by samlr Quote
Mr Greeble Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 It's fake. It was kind of easy to tell by how precise and thin the printing was. Also, look at the belt. Quote
Robert_88 Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 I don't have a Cloud City Boba but I'm sure this is a replica. As Mr Greeble already said the print shouln't be so precise and the belt is totally different. I hope you can bring him back! Quote
samlr Posted May 8, 2015 Author Posted May 8, 2015 (edited) Yes. After searching, It seems to be a 2006 or 2009 Boba Fett minifig with custom prints on the legs, belt and arms. :-( It should not be a problem bringing it back. Thanks for your answers :-) Edited May 8, 2015 by samlr Quote
Zakalwe Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 The knee-pads even look like decals.(?) There seems to be a thin rectangular edge around them. Quote
samlr Posted May 8, 2015 Author Posted May 8, 2015 (edited) Yes your are right, with a good lightning, you can see that the arms, belt and legs have some kind of very thin and transparent decals. It's well done actually. I don't remember who produced very nice custom Ghostbuster arms with logo, but they used the same technic. Edited May 8, 2015 by samlr Quote
MAB Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 Yeah, definitely fake. Good luck getting your money back. Quote
Deathleech Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 Like the old saying goes, if it seems to good to be true it probably is. Quote
samlr Posted May 9, 2015 Author Posted May 9, 2015 The deal was not that good, globally it would just have saved me the shipping and going through BL (which I'll probably do sooner or later). Anyway, the problem is solved :-) Quote
