FreeBee Posted August 17, 2007 Posted August 17, 2007 Like the new city ideas but then what would u like trainbased. And please don't start 9v discussion in it. I'll start off: - Old-style passenger train (with steamlok and 2 passenger cars) - Postcar in the same style as above - Switchtower - Guarded Crossing Quote
Section8 Posted August 17, 2007 Posted August 17, 2007 There's only one thing I want to see: a UCS-style 20th Century Limited with a 'J' locomotive. That would be great! Quote
Freddie Posted August 17, 2007 Posted August 17, 2007 - A freight depot, with the new six-wide containers and appropriate freight car(s) to carry them. Something in style with either 4555 or 7823 would certainly be fitting. - A rail-crossing (like FreeBee mentioned). - A stand-alone locomotive for the RC-system - Extra train-cars of differing design, either as a complete set or seperate. Preferably of types not currently available. - A road and rail hybrid maintenance vehicle. *sigh* Wishful thinking... I am ofcourse thinking exlusively of sets available outside the brand-stores and S@H. That way they'll be available to a bigger crowd, but limited to the RC-system. And finally: - Replace the lightbulbs with LEDs! This goes for both bring-alongs and rail-supplied trains! Quote
SavaTheAggie Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 I'll echo replacing lights with LEDs. Heck, that would allow the train headlights to be bright no matter what speed you ran them. Most of the buildings I'd wish for could never be made as sets, as they'd be too big. And most of the train MOCs I'd like to see as sets I've either already built, have a good idea on how to build them, or have seen someone's design that I plan to outright steal... err... copy. That said I would love to see some "real" steam engines as official sets. By real I mean pistons attached to wheels, instead of the fake steam in the MOT series. However in order to have "real" steam engines, LEGO would have to come up with some sort of steam engine driver wheel, which is in direct competition with Ben Fleskes' Big Ben Bricks steam engine driver wheels. I consider Ben a friend, so I would hate to see his business suffer because LEGO started undermining his sales, unless LEGO bought his designs in which case I'd be all for it. :) That said, having LEGO build a steam engine driver might open up the possibility of boxpok drivers... and man would I love to have a set of those for my streamlined hudson... mmm... boxpok. I wouldn't complain if LEGO bought a few of my designs either, but that's just wishful thinking. ;) --Tony Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 - A freight depot, with the new six-wide containers and appropriate freight car(s) to carry them. Something in style with either 4555 or 7823 would I agree, Freddie! A freight depot would be very nice and absolutely necessary and would perfectly go with the new RC cargo train. What about this?: Cargo Train Station a cargo train station with a little house with an office, some tracks and a big container lift including a container transport car (with doors), an open train trailer for containers, three containers and a palette with barrels minifigs: 2 train workers and a car driver Depot a big depot (in the style of the dark red engine shed Lego had already released) with big windows and two loading ramps (on the one side to unload the train, on the other side to unload the cargo cars) and sliding gates including a cargo car (with doors), a hand forklift truck, a forklift, some paletts, some barrels and a lot of cargo stuff minifigs: 3 train workers, a worker and a car driver (I wrote down this proposal some time ago on http://eurobricks.hosting.ipsyn.com/eurofo...pic=9448&st=30) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'd even like a Wild West train and a Wild West train station (like the wonderful MOC Brick Miner created and presented us on http://eurobricks.hosting.ipsyn.com/eurofo...showtopic=9599) either as one or as two separate sets. That would be great! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What I'd like very much would be following: Eastern and Oriental Express or Transpires Train as S@H Exclusive 9V-Train (Are these the real names of these trains?) (http://www.bahnurlaub.de/zug_details26.html?gclid=CIv41Oa3_40CFSQ0XgoddkNTSg or http://www.lernidee.de/354-0-zarengold-200...nd-termine.html, unfortunately only in German) a locomotive, a saloon car (with three little tables with nice lamps and five seats), a dining car (with two tables with nice lamps and four seats, a bar and a separate little kitchen with range, refrigerator and kitchen sink) and a sleeping car (with two bedrooms (with each a bunk bed, a little table with a nice lamp and a seat) and one bathroom (with a toilet, a wash basin and a shower) between the two bedrooms) including some cups and glases, some suitcases, a pan, a pot and a salver minifigs: an engineer, a cook, a waiter, a stewardess and as passengers two men, a woman and a child Apriori that's it! But if I get some new ideas i'll post them. Quote
Minifig Lecturer Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 Yes I would like the cargo station/depot idea alot. Something like this perhaps Also I think it would be nice to see some bridges, both for people and others for vehicles. Quote
alex54 Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 A cargo station would be very nice, with some small crane, a dock and a lot of accessories! Dream on... Quote
maiq the liar Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 a different station so both train stations are not identical...maybe a small-town station? (now..don't bite me for this...i joined in on the fun too late for 9V, it seems.) a RC version of christmas train. and stronger RC motors. (they may adress this flaw soon...) and a freight depot as a add-on to the dock. Definately a new airport tram, even if it's a "legends" re-release of the old one. 250.00$ is TOO MUCH to pay for the old one. Maybe even a SF-style trolley. Quote

LEGO has repeated ad nauseum whenever they've been asked, at Brickfest, online, etc., that the molds for the monorail system have been destroyed or otherwise ruined to the point that they cannot and will not provide any more support for the system. This includes replacement parts and legend rereleases. LEGO has also stated, if I recall correctly, that the Legends rerelease program has also been dropped. This, of course, does not prevent LEGO from coming up with a brand new monorail system, but the old system is over with. As far as the RC motors are concerned - I seriously doubt a *stronger* motor is needed. I would imagine that the RC train motor (the actual motor inside the unit) is identical to the 9v motor (the actual motor inside the unit). The 9v motor is a linear electric motor, meaning the more electricity you pump into it, the more power you get out of it. So in my opinion gathered from my limited knowledge on the subject, the problem with the RC trains is *NOT* the motor, but the power source, and you're really not going to get the same kind of electrical output from a consumer-level battery system as you are from a wall outlet. --Tony Quote
maiq the liar Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 well, some form of adaptor that lets you use stronger batteries (Car batteries, for example :-P ) Quote
SavaTheAggie Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 well, some form of adaptor that lets you use stronger batteries (Car batteries, for example :-P ) Well, how would you go about that? Stronger batteries are stereotypically much heavier, so you're limited to what the train can pull. Of course you could use a car battery, but no LEGO train could pull it, so you'd have to set it on the side of the tracks, you know, and have some sort of method of getting the electricity to the motor remotely, say, a electrically conductive surface on the rails, and of course you'd have to have some sort of metal wheels on the motor unit to pick up that electricity... ;-) --Tony Quote
maiq the liar Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 (edited) Well, i meant on the remote. the remote is more of a battery hog then the train. Maybe there is a way to use the current system more efficiently? *pours E38 ethanol into his game boy color's battery port* Edited August 22, 2007 by maiq the liar Quote
