Ghost Anakin(Sebastian Shaw), Yoda and Obi-wan Kenobi from the ending of Return of the Jedi. I never liked Sebastian Shaw replaced by young Hayden Christensen in the Blue-ray version, with the release of Jedi Vader from Dark Falcon, now it is possible to have official Sebastian Shaw Anakin version:

Awesome and cool to learn that it was based on shaw

Alright, here we go with my few upgraded LSW minifigs.

Up first, the Mandalorian:

640x640.jpeg

I’ve been upgrading Mando slowly but surely for the past four years, and now I believe I’ve achieved perfection. Of course, I’m using all the official updates: the cape from 2021 under the jetpack from later that year, the Pedro head from 2022, and the amazing new helmet print from 2023. The final and most recent change I made was taking a Sharpie to a pair of Tusken raider hands in order to capture the orange-tipped gloves Mando uses. It’s not the best job, but I’m very pleased with the results.

Next, Captain Rex:

800x800.jpeg

800x600.jpeg

The official P2 Rex minifig from the microfighter is great already, and I hadn’t planned on upgrading the figure at first. However, combining it with some spare CaC elements I had on hand makes him look amazing. The waist cape is a must, and helps Rex stand out. The helmet looks a lot better with the shorter range finder, not to mention black contrasts better than DBG, I feel. The custom blasters are the least necessary, but they do help enhance the figure all the more.

The second figure is based off his Rebels appearance, using a custom torso from Republic Bricks and Sharpie-ing in the abdomen. For the arms, I only had arms in noughat from Jasmine from the Disney CMF S2. To cover the printing from the original figure, I cut out some sticker paper and used a blue ink pen to make a crude representation of Rex’s shoulder armor.

Lastly, the ultimate Legends power-couple:

640x800.jpeg

Mara Jade was one of my first SW customs, made before I even read the Legends Thrawn trilogy. Originally I used the Inferno squad torso and legs (first picture), along with a satchel for extra, if not extraneous detail. However, I also grew to appreciate Inferno Squad and began regretting using that torso. Now I use the 2022 Catwoman torso and 2016 Death Star gunner legs (second picture), even though the belt buckle looks too real-world (not to mention zippers! Paul would be displeased).

640x800.jpeg

800x533.jpeg

Then there was Luke, who is based off his HttE comic appearance (although I prefer to keep the black glove, thank you). He uses a flipped-around DS Gunner torso, and the hips and right leg from the 2013 elite police from LEGO City.

Enjoy. :)

With the new duros rumor, looking for other cantina or jabbas palace aliens that people have built (I am a purist but would love seeing everything out there).  Does anyone have any good cantina aliens?

Many Star Wars fans enjoyed the Rebels TV show while criticizing its art style. Funny me - I hated Rebels but enjoyed many of its designs, especially TIE fighters with short solar panels (they looked so cute! ) and, among other things, the thin lishtsabers (they looked elegant IMO).

Why am I typing this? Watching Darth Vader and Ben Kenobi's duel from ANH, I noticed that Vader's lightsaber looks somewhat thinner and considerably longer, than Obi-Wan's. Different sources claim that it was a production error; Legends claimed that Vader had a dual-phase lightsaber, which could change its length. Nevertheless, I want to stay faithful to the movie in my Lego creations, so I custom-crafted this long and thin lightsaber blade from a 8H antenna whip part. It's barbaric, but hey, it looks decent IMHO.

Custom Lego Star Wars minifigures - Darth Vader's long and thin lishtsaber

Such a method could also be employed for Rebels-style lightsabers.

Not yet, but I am planning to. I shall post them as soon as they are ready (not soon... :sadnew:). Firestar toys posted an article on the subject on their blog

Updated Juno Eclipse, updated Sabine (thanks to Kim-Kwang-Seok for the influence) with the dark sabre (squint and just pretend) and jetpack, using up vintage Nien Numb parts to create a more aesthetically-pleasing rebel pilot and my Saw Gerrera without his clunky piping.

And after 8 years, I've finally updated Juno Eclipse again, thanks to the new hair + cap piece courtesy of Dedra Meero:

Can't deny I spent more than I'd have liked to on both Dedra and a spare hairpiece, since I wanted the actual minifigure as well as the ability to update Juno... but happy with the results, even if my wallet wasn't (spent just under £30, on Dedra, an additional hairpiece, the USB field agent and shipping).

Hope it's going to be a common new element now, it could be used readily for so many supplementary imperial minifigures moving forward especially if they produce it with different hair and cap colors (be they canon characters or just army-builders, the hair can be produced in all varieties with a black cap, or the cap could be changed to dark bluish grey or Rebels brown), hate to think they'd make such an amazing bespoke part exclusively molded for just one character when it could be easily reused to diversify sets moving forwards. But considering Lego have done than repeatedly in the past (such as the Mimban Stormtrooper helmet, that only appeared once in one set when a battle pack would have been most welcome), I wouldn't be surprised if it was, so snatched up both the minifigure and a spare hairpiece just in cast they'll shoot up in value.

Hell, I was once cringing a decade ago when I paid £42.00 for a 4-pack of Darth Revan, Admiral Yularen, TC-4 and TC-14 off Ebay because I thought that was a ridiculous price to pay for 4 minifigures... and now Revan alone is worth at least 6 that, whilst Yularen is at least £50 and TC-14 is £80. So went with my gut on this one...

In celebration of Andor for its two seasons of spectacular storytelling, I brought together official and purist figs alike for a little photoshoot.

1280x720.JPG

B2EMO - inspired by 2bricksoffical's design, just made two bricks shorter for better scaling

Bix Caleen (from S1) -

head from Echo, Marvel CMF S2, although any other warm tan female head would probably be better

torso (flipped around) with tan arms and medium noughat arms for her gloves

legs from AT-ST Kaltoonian Raider

Brasso (from S2) -

head from Bucky, Marvel CMF S1

torso with medium blue arms

Legs are just plain ol' dark blue. To borrow the phrase, cheers.

The Timekeeper (the MVP of Andor) -

headgear

head from Infinity Saga Thor

torso (flipped around)

legs, olive green

1280x960.JPG

Upon a passing thought of what Dedra would look like with dual molded legs, I looked to Hugo Strange from the LEGO Batman Movie CMF S2. Dedra and I are pleased with the results, although the same can't be said of the poor doctor.

1280x720.JPG

Syril–and Gilroy–love their French berets. (CMF here.)

Conversely, I'm not altogether thrilled with Syril in the specifics of his pieces (the torso [flipped around] is truly the only unique aspect of the figure), but I feel it captures the spirit of the character from S2 well, albeit loosely at that.

Here's all them together:

Great to see Juno with the update.

Excellent work sir!  And as a purist I appreciate the links and information.

what piece did you use at the bottom middle?  I did 2Bricksofficial build as well (He does some really good Mocs and Mods), but the bottom is a bit wider than yours, just curious what you did as I think this lines up to min fig scale better.

So, in looking at the 2bricks build, I realized I hadn't used his design in the first place! Instead I had used Rossco311's design, who was inspired by 2bricks. The (free!) instructions there should answer your question.

I agree. It does compromise the silhouette of the character a slight (he leans a half-plate more forward than he should), but he looks perfect next to Cassian and family.

ah got it, I think 2Bricks has a really good one, but the slightly smaller footprint of the Rossco one is nice for sitting next to mini figures, will see if I can adapt mine.
