So I don't have too much experience in comparison to everyone else here when it comes to building sets. However, in the experience I have, I notice that Lego has a lot more love for cats then it does for dogs.

Cats seem to be in a lot more sets. In addition when Lego does a Cat, it tends to be more expressive or posed better. When they release a dog, it seems pretty flat. The dog is not dynamically posed or anything else. Not playful and so forth.

I get that lego figures live in confined spaces which are more prone to cat ownership. However, I would love to see more love for dogs.

Am I alone in this thinking?

But that dog is from 14 years ago. Is there more examples like that?

So I took a look at brick link, and it is pretty limited. I mean dogs beg, dogs crouch the same as cats do when they play and every dog owner knows the head tilt a dog does. I am not seeing much of that represented. But it was good to see the Dalmatians. Great for some fire fighter sets.

I seem to find more dog sets (albeit only color differences of this design) in quite a few sets, starting with the PS (with a cat I will add), the Arctic sets and the police sets. I think with the Friends sets we will get more dogs, like this.

There have been 121 sets with cats in them, and 97 sets with dogs. This difference comes mostly from http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=6251 , which has been in almost 40 different sets. A lot of the sets cats come in are also things like magazines, books, games, CMF and tubs o' bricks. If you don't count those they go head to head.

Lately LEGO seems to be making more and more sets with dogs than cats, about 3 to 2. I'd say there being no love of the dog seems incorrect.

That is true. Poorly worded by me.

When I mean love, I mean the love you put in when creating the model for a dog. Maybe I am completely wrong, but the Dogs we have in my sons collection are very still looking. They are not dynamic and playful. I think a dog owner would bring out some more character from a dog model. Cat Models seem to always bring out the personality of the cat. With dogs, I don't get the same feeling.

I do agree with some of this, the cats seem to have more of a personallity, but I'm hoping for new sets that will bring the dogs up to the same level :)
