davee123 Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 So, I tried using ROBOTC today-- which apparently needs its own special firmware (I guess this is a slightly more recent development, since Steve Hassenplug's site said ROBOTC works fine with the standard firmware). However, when I tried to update the firmware, it failed and I'm left with a clicking NXT. Research has told me that this means it's waiting for a firmware download that never happened, but none of the solutions online have worked for me. My "Devices and Printers" window shows the NXT as "Bossa Program Port", and lists the manufacturer as "Arduino Srl (www.arduino.org)". Seems very sad. All the information I've found, however, seems to be outdated. 2008, 2009, 2010. Almost all of it is 4+ years old, so I'm not sure if something's changed in the interim. Anyone have any ideas? DaveE Hi DaveI had exactly the same problem it was the Arduino IDE interfering with the the firmware update in the end I installed BrickCC on an old laptop and that downloaded the firmware OK. I had even tried to uninstall the Arduino IDE on my desk top PC still would not work. Quote
OzShan Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 Very similar problems myself. Luckily for me, uninstalling the arduino software was enough to get it connected again. Good luck. It's not dead. Quote
NXT45 Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 I had this once. Just open the NXT software and download that firmware and then try to reinstall the RobotC software. Quote
