Durandalski Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 Its amazing how Lego lasts. I got my first set at age 6, it accompanied me all through childhood, and now as an adult I've started building again. Things have changed, "SNOT" I've done a few builds and I'm almost done with a comic, but these are the builds I feel I did the best on. So I kinda want to get some feedback so I can improve with future constructions. Republic Rapier I've always had a small collection, which forced me to learn to improvise. Using inverted SNOT around the cockpit is an example of that. Red Rapier Just for fun I swapped colors for a red version, a showroom model with no weapons, awaiting a buyer. Fighters are a big business industry in my universe. Sabre This was my first attempt to use a lot of SNOT. I have hardly any tiles so studs remain visible however. underside Studs do face in every direction though. I especially proud of the detailed underside (my weakness.) Durandalski's Flickr Quote
Robin Creations Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Nice job! I like the inverted SNOT on the first one, although I would suggest to use either new light bluish grey or old light grey instead of both. Unless you want a worn look Quote
Silly_donkey Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 These are cool. Kinda remind me of battle star galactica. Fixing the grey/bley issue will help, but otherwise great work! The sabre needs some weapons or maybe more orange bricks on the "hood" Quote
Durandalski Posted April 16, 2015 Author Posted April 16, 2015 Thanks for feedback! I do NOT like to mix gray and bley, I just have a small collection. Its growing rapidly via bricklink however, especially bley. Same with the orange, that was all three of my orange bricks. Quote
Ska 2D2 Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 Good effort! Thinking outside the brick is what its all about. I came back to Lego a year and a half ago and whilst keeping an eye on whats going on in the Lego world I find not getting too wrapped up in what everyone else is doing helpful in keeping ideas fresh and original. Either way its your pleasure in creating that counts and if someone else wants to come along for the ride, Great! Please keep them coming! Quote
___ Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 Oh, I thought it is the same old gray with just yellowing on some of them...silly me Quote
Balbo Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 Great job! I like how your Space Fighters turned out. Especially the Snot techniques you used for them are very nice Quote
kurigan Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 These are pretty nice. I'm particurally fond of the Sabre, rather reminiscent of the A-wing, one of my favorites. I too am comming back to space/sci-Fi after a long time and am intrigued by the recent trends. What I'm finding is that "studless" is a lot less about "having the right parts" and more about being clever. Clearly that's something your used to and well practiced at. Quote
Durandalski Posted April 17, 2015 Author Posted April 17, 2015 The A-Wing definitely provided inspiration. As fun as it is to come up with crazy shapes for fighters, the fact is that the classics just never die. :) I have very much enjoyed learning and discovering new building techniques I never imagined as a kid. Hopefully these little fighters are just the beginning. Quote
