Snapshot Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 (edited) So I bought two 60051 plus some 28-stud baseplates and enough extra parts to make two locos and four coaches. There were still a load of bits left over so I put most of them together with some help from the bits box and got this: I'm not sure there's a lot of point to it but it would run if I put batteries in it. It actually looks better sitting on track than it does lying on my desk. Edited March 27, 2015 by Snapshot Quote
Duq Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 You're right, it's entirely pointless but I love it! Quote
Breakdown Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 I also added rolling stock to mine. Was too cheap to go the 28 stud baseplate route though. Quote
Dan-147 Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 It is rather cute... I would love to see pictures of the other bits (complete train with 28-stud bases) Dan-147 Quote
Commander Wolf Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 It might be silly because it can't pull anything, but add couplers somehow and an Amtrak HHP-8 does look like that: Quote
dr_spock Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 I think HHP-8 have been replaced by ACS-64 now. If you take off the pantographs, it could be a SNCF X73500 series of railcar. Quote
MusicaRibelle Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Or treat it as an unnecessarily aerodynamic streetcar ;) Quote
cgarison Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 I think HHP-8 have been replaced by ACS-64 now. Amtrak has replaced their HHP-8s, but 6 of those locomotives are still in service along the MARC Penn line between Washington DC and Perryville, MD. Given that they are serviced at the Amtrak Wilmington DE shops, I cannot see how MARC will keep them in service beyond the end of 2015. Quote
detjensrobert Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 Not sure if it can do much without couplers, but other than that, it looks good! . Quote
v6TransAM Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 It looks good. Only downfall is lack of couplers, so its kind of useless, figure that out and maybe lengthen it slightly and you would have a nice engine Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 I like the final result ...this stand alone locomotive looks super-fast, and the shape is amazing! Maybe useless without magnets but as the other guys have already said it looks good! Quote
dr_spock Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 I came across another prototype similar to your MOD. Quote
THERIZE Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 I love your train. But one thing, doesn't it derail when you go trough corners to fast? Quote
