2x4Studios Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 I just finished making a $0 budget Lego film, I built everything freehand and no plan or instructions. My goal was to show that effective film does not need large amounts of expensive equipment! The camera ran on a motorized Lego dolly at around 1 stud every 3 minutes, The camera is a fake rip-off GoPro that i found in a tip and fixed. The filming took around 3 months as i had to balance it with school work, i am fairly happy with the overall product though. What could be done better and would be an interesting next video? Quote
captainmib Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Nice job on the video. For a rip-off go pro the image is pleasant to look at. Maybe you want to present your MOC aswell? Quote
Graydingo Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Great video! Love to see the motorized lego dolly too. Quote
TinkerBrick Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Thanks for sharing the video. Looks cool. Could you post pictures of your motorized dolly. That'd be great. Quote
2x4Studios Posted March 27, 2015 Author Posted March 27, 2015 Looking at all the responses I'll try and make a 'Making of' showing the camera, dolly and moc Quote
Tommy Styrvoky Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 (edited) pretty good job, I have made a motorized lego camera rail slider, and a smaller tripod for close up shots. The lego system provides a cheap means for producing mounts, the only problem is a lack of proper bearings between the rails, this leads to occasional small bumps where tiles meet. 2x4Studios Posted March 28, 2015 Author Posted March 28, 2015 The bumping was a problem, but I used a tank like sustention system on the train wheels to eliminate the bumps, it is on 2 sets of offset parallel tracks to reduce the frequency of more then one wheel going on a bump at once Quote
