SirNadroj Posted August 5, 2007 Posted August 5, 2007 Hello. I don't know if there is a thread like this already, but what happened to the "System" logo from the lego boxes? After they took it away, in my opinon, lego went down the toliet, and its only til now they are coming back with better products. Could somebody please help? Quote
PSPguy Posted August 5, 2007 Posted August 5, 2007 (edited) Lego didnt like it and told it to hit the road or something like this. (I really believe this) EDIT:What do you think happened to it Lordan?- Edited August 5, 2007 by PSPguy Quote
Order66 Posted August 5, 2007 Posted August 5, 2007 I completely agree with u. Even some of the star wars sets to episode 2 was made my lego system (no all the sets tho). Those were good times tho:) Quote
SirNadroj Posted August 5, 2007 Author Posted August 5, 2007 System sets, to me, are classic. Everything else...eh....i'm ify on. Remember it was the Lego Logo, then system, then in the top right had corner it had the theme name in a little triangle. (That was of course, after the legoland banner across the top left-hand corners of the boxes.) Personally, I have no clue what happened. Maybe they changed it for the year 2000, because after 1999, the "System" logo stopped. Strange. Maybe they wanted to change for the new century. :-( Quote

SirNadroj Posted August 5, 2007 Author Posted August 5, 2007 Does anyone know if the "System" logo is officialy 'dead'? Quote
PSPguy Posted August 5, 2007 Posted August 5, 2007 It is dead. When it was crossing the highway a car ran it over. >:-) Quote
SirNadroj Posted August 5, 2007 Author Posted August 5, 2007 Actually, 'dead' is the offical term to describe logos and copywritten material that are no longer in use. Quote
ZeekyBoogeyDoog Posted August 5, 2007 Posted August 5, 2007 My guess would be the introduction of a large number of parts or new colors perhaps? I think when Lego drops these banners it could be when the parts are being changed- The Legoland banner was done away with in 1991, I think, and I believe minifig head studs were made hollow during this time. The System sets have different versions of some parts that were sold in kits under the Legoland banner, like hoses without tabs for example, and others were done away with, like the cypress tree (I think). This is all conjecture of course. Quote
SirNadroj Posted August 5, 2007 Author Posted August 5, 2007 (edited) Interesting. This is such a big mystery to me. Has lego released any official statments? Another thing is on one of the little product info sheets they have currently (I think its orange) that you get when you order online, it shows the lego types i.e., QUARTO, DUPLO, SYSTEM. If I remember, I'll take a picture. Edited August 5, 2007 by SirNadroj Quote
natelite Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 These days no set is completely made from system bricks. It has some technic elements. So without proper classification, it has to drop the system logo. Second theory is that the patent expired so they dropped it. Third is that they wanted to promote other parts that are less popular like technic and bionicle and included them into system sets. But since the sets are no longer purely system bricks they can't put system on the boxes. Quote
SirNadroj Posted August 6, 2007 Author Posted August 6, 2007 (edited) Thank you for that info. But I still don't understand why they continue to use the logo on their product information sheets. These are the ones they currently use. Strange. If the sets are not pure system elements anymore, whats up with the pic above? Look, I even had my older brother make this shirt from cafepress. (Hopefully they won't say the logo is copywritten, and not let me buy it.) Edited August 6, 2007 by SirNadroj Quote
