Andy D Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 Is it just me or has anyone else noticed a lot of new members with very few posts (under 10), sometimes just 1 post who appear to have joined Eurobricks just to promote their Ideas project? Don't get me wrong, I think the LEGO Ideas is a great thing for some MOCs, but should every MOC be an Ideas project, and should people join Eurobricks just to promote their Ideas project? I'll turn my grumpy side off now. Andy D Quote
dr_spock Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 Eurobricks Site Guidelines for Ideas: LEGO Ideas: If you have a great MOC, that is also a LEGO Ideas project, you may present it on EB as you would any MOC, with a single link to the Ideas entry. Make the title about the MOC, not the Ideas business; don't be too shouty, and it is likely to be tolerated. You need to be thinking: 'I want people on EB to see my MOC and comment on it. If they like it, perhaps they'll support it on LEGO Ideas', rather than: 'I want Ideas support! If I post it on EB, perhaps more people will vote!. Quote

Apparently not many new members are reading the site guidelines. Because I seem to see several per week (sometimes more) who are doing the "I want Ideas support..." Route. Quote

Peppermint_M Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 If you report these posts that are all about Ideas over presenting a MOC then we moderators can go in and sort it out. Just the same as if someone lets it be known they are under 18 in a post or on their profile, you need to report it so it comes to our attention. There are hundreds of posts daily on EB and there isn't enough time to go through each and every one of them. Staff not only have to police members and posts but also plan out contests and content for you to enjoy, so a report is the best bet to get it dealt with. Quote

Peppermint_M Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 Not at all! That is how we either gather a tally on the poster or know that enough is enough and they are only using EB as a billboard. Quote
Robert8 Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 Maybe we could have a thread in the Community forum especially made for posting LEGO Ideas projects. And only members with +250 posts could post there Quote
Breakdown Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 Please vote for my lego ideas project. It's TBA right now but I have the whole thing plotted out in my head really good, and c'mon it's me: Breakdown. I'm like a brother to most of you by now!! Quote
Peppermint_M Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Present the MOC as you would any other, with pictures and a write-up and what have you. Then have a one line mention that it is on Ideas with a link. The thread title shouldn't be anything about LEGO Ideas, it is simply the MOC. That is how to advertise a LEGO ideas project. Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Share one's design should also be the primary reason for posting a MOC here on EB and trying to get support for Ideas should always be down the list. Quote
zmasterbrick Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 It feels like the Lego Ideas thing is losing steam anyways. The whole concept needs social media to propagate, and that makes sense, but really look at what becomes a set after countless hours of networking. I've been at the Lego store and watched kids just roll right past the Cuuso sets, and I have to say with a very light heart, I can't blame them. Maybe the management should dedicate a section to promoting just Ideas? Quote
icemann Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 (edited) hey everyone. I thoroughly enjoy EB forum, simply because it's a great platform to meet and listen to builders from all over. Going through the various topics and threads, I came across this thread, and I gotta say...Oh dear, I'm guilty as charged I have previously been browsing but never participated as a member, and only got a proper account going so as to advertise an ideas project. But pls accept my feedback, joining the forum is also to expand and improve the build skills.. which brings me to my purpose in this posting. In my initial excitement to upload my post, i didn't realise a "law" of posting, where I noticed subsequently that original creations had a common prefix stating of [moc] in the titles. With full respect to community, I wanted to change the title of the post to include the [moc], to be in line with good practice of this forum, and to comply with the guidelines in here.. but I can't seem to carry out the function now. =( to the seniors in here, I would greatly appreciate advice on how to fix this? thank you sincerely iceman Edited April 7, 2015 by icemann Quote
