Nice, I've been waiting for this a long time. :-)

So, how do you all think about the return of the Toa Nuva in 2008? As they're still called Nuva, I doubt that they'll get transformed, so they're probably just pimped up Toa Nuva- especially the masks. I hope that they still wear the same masks, but just upgraded on the outside- like with Lhikan's Hau.

My conversations with Greg do not paint a promising picture. He told me making them look similar to their old selves might discourage shops or something. I called BS on it, and he said whatev man. The current theory is that they will most likely be rebuilt on Artakha or summat, and in any case will probably sport new looks, and if I know anything about Bionicle, new masks.

Well the leaked names still say 'Nuva'; hopefully that means they don't go through a transformation, and therefore renaming themself to 'Toa Artakha', or whatever the story team can think up...

Personally, I doubt they're going to look any better then the Inika or Mahri, and certainly wont look anything like their old selves.

Which is good for me, because frankly I thought the Nuva masks BLEW pretty badly... but that's bad, as they probably didn't go back further either to the 2001 masks... which most certainly did NOT blow.

True, the Nuva masks weren't perfect, so a redo wouldn't be unwelcome.

Not sure what Ravensdorn is smoking though.

Now, on to more lucid subjects...

I will concur on the Nuva mask re-design - I have always detested the way those masks look. Lewa with buck teeth? Gali with a pig snout? Pohatu with 50's tailfins? The list goes on.

However, I was a fan of the overall design scheme otherwise. The best course of action, IMHO, would be to re-work them closer to their movie selves. That gets the old Nuva with better masks and superior articulation. Everyone wins.

But if the current trend continues, the Nuva will likely end up armed with energy ball cannons - oop! Those are zamors. OK, they'll have gatling guns - Oop! Thats the Mahri. Ok, well, I guess they'll probably end up with tactical nuke launchers.

Sounds like a plan. Pohatu will look like a bumblebee, Gali will look like a swamp water-colored falcon, Onua will be the black and silver combo we've seen so much before, Tahu will have a unicorn[a pink unicorn, to get more female LEGO buyers], Kopaka will have a more cutting-edge design- not a foot-foot, not a foot-body, but a foot-face!-, and Lewa will look like the Ninja Turtle with the green headband. And he'll have not two-but three- no, four bombs, one in each hand, a shoulder-mounted one, and a forearm-mounted one. Three on one side, and one on the other.

And just like Kongu, and Hewkii, they'll have bombs strapped to them. It'll help more away from US-oriented marketing, at least.

Those are my grievances, I'll think up some more later.

I would welcome a nuva redesign, including their masks. Knee joints and elbow joints and...just...overall...redesigniness. Lhikan's mask is what makes him so kick butt.

Such anger. Though I do believe Nuva-with-bombs strapped to them won't boost AMERICAN sales...

Hopefully they won't be COMPLETELY revamped, still containing at least a shadow of their old forms. The this that stood out the most on them was their silver armor, so that's probably all that will remain.

Yes, but his two GIGANTIC swords that are bigger than he is (and can turn into a surf board), bring him down. You can't pose him in a decent pose with the swords, without making his arms look awkward. :-/

You're missing the general idea that silver is overused, even if two Toa don't have any. But I don't really mind, I mean, protodermis is silver, and that's what they're made of, apparently.

Still though, it's really only on the weapons. They would be silver since they don't have any life energy, which I suppose is what gives armor its colour. And let's face it, when was the last time any of us saw a green axe?

Most of the sets that have silver on their bodies, though - Nuva and Hordika, mainly - all suck. The Inika toned it down a bit, reducing it to the weapons and such. Kongu and Matoro had silver on their bodies, but they're kinda crap. X-D Nuparu, not sure if those claws are his hands or whatever, but they look okay to me, just would have been better in black.

With the Mahri, the ones with more silver are the ones that suck more. Jaller has basically no silver, only his sword and pipes, and the crab has silver legs. Nuparu is crappy, and has more silver, coincidence? :-P

With the Nuva, I think they will have silver, but otherwise they're pretty much doomed to look completely different from the originals, which is good and bad.

Anyway, I think they should tone it down with the silver, basically. A Jaller Mahri-like scheme would be acceptable for your standard Toa sets, which the Nuva are not, in the end.

That was a bit extreme, and it's really just a masked attempt to call the Mahri crap. We have NO idea what the Nuva will look like, and every toa design other than the Nuva has looked WAY different than the previous.

Oh, and I know it was a joke, Hewkii, but I really didn't find it funny. :-/

I don't find it nessicary to be offended by another person's opinion. Expecially if the subject is a toy line. You have your own opinion on the Mahri, and he has one also.

Sorry, I just don't want to see the first and foremost Toa line-up changed like the Inika from what we thought they'd be [after GregF said they'd use new canister colors, everyone thought that meant yellow, burnt orange and purple, but it meant Keetyellow].

I'm actually debating with myself. It will be tempting when the pictures come out (I'm expecting September by the latest) to take a gander...but this is the Nuva we're talking about. I don't want to spoil it, especially when I know how bad prototype pictures make these things look when in reality they can be really cool.

Yes, I try to not judge them on their first apperances, as they always seem to turn out better when they are released. I deffinately will be sneaking a peak and saving them on my computer before they dissapear from BZP, due to the "Leaked Pictures" rule they have over there. :-P

Well, since they have dirrect ties to TLC and Greg F, keep the pictures there and lose the former. Sad, but true, and I would rather just look at them over here than have BZP lose GregF and all the exclusives he gives BZP. ;-)
