Hello! I'm looking to build a miniature version of a broch. It is a ''cooling tower' shaped building and I'm wondering if anyone has any bright ideas about how to go about recreating the shape of such a structure in lego form...it's a brain scratcher!

Anyone have hints / tips / suggestions ??

You could try using hinge plates which are raised off the base-plate by a stud.

The stone texture could be made by slopes and bricks with studs on there faces, with tiles placed on top.

I don't stay too far away from a broch, they are common in the highlands of Scotland where I come from. :classic:

Two overlapping layers of 2429c01.gif with a few stepped layers of 3678b.jpg then transitioning to 3684b.jpg and then finally vertical wall. That's my idea, there will be some gaps and the decreasing radius circles will probably require some clever attachments between the ribs. Another possibility is to build the whole thing sideways as stepped plates with cheese slopes. This is conceptually simple but would use a ton of parts.

I looked up broch online and many of them.are covered in moss or some type of green plant. Maybe cheat a little at the bottom and have the thing narrow by a stud every so many levels, but use flower stems to hid the transitions then close to the top get into the overlapping hinges as described by Vorkosigan, this sounds like a big challenge.
