SirBlake Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 (edited) I got this set today, and while I like it, something about the proportions didn't sit right with me. So, I started over on it and this is what I ended up with. I'm sure I'll play with it some more, but figured you guys would like to see how it turned out so far. Edit: Here's the regular set for comparison: Edited February 27, 2015 by SirBlake Quote
Stelario Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 (edited) Not bad but you could add a gear box ;P Also the corners could be a bit more round like maybe this I'm also not a fan of sticker lights :P but still better then original. Edited February 27, 2015 by Stelario Quote
SirBlake Posted February 27, 2015 Author Posted February 27, 2015 Thanks for the suggestions, but a 918 isn't available with a traditional gear shift lever and the radius on that slope is much too large for this scale. Quote
BimmerBoy Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 (edited) Nice work! I'm excited, I'm going to the Lego Store tomorrow to look at these Speed Champion sets since they will finally be available here. From the pictures I've seen, the 918 is the least accurate (too "tall" relative to the width). This is not a knock against Lego, as this is a very difficult car to replicate at this scale and they did a good job. Your version gives the low look the real life car has, though. SirBlake Posted March 1, 2015 Author Posted March 1, 2015 Thanks! I just did the widening on the LaFerrari today and I'm happy with how it turned out. I'll likely post a thread on that one tomorrow. I think the P1 is likely the worst offender as far as these cars being too narrow, and it's going to be a challenge simply because of the bright orange color. Mine might have to get black stripes. lightningtiger Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 Interesting idea......though it looks like something from Speed Racer. Neat redo on that set anyway 'SirBlake'......Brick On Race On ! Quote

Thank you sir! The Speed Racer comparison is surely not a bad thing. I just barely missed those sets in my dark ages and I like 'em. Here's an updated shot. Nothing too major, just tweaked the interior a tad and added a LaFerrari! Quote
