Hi All,

Was just wondering what the rules are for Lego truck trials..

I've found some info on the net last year that outlined a few but I've not been able to find the site since.

would like to know..

which motors can be used

which tires can be used

fake engine and how it needs to be connected to the drive chain

steering

gear box

does it need to be a truck

can it be controlled by mindstorms or the sbrick

???

thanks in advance

I guess the rules are up to the race host...some LUG have very restrictive rules, some only a few pointers... In our country, where there is a relatively small base of truckers, it is only necessary to use nothing but PF components (nor buggy motors or RC) amd the gates are set at 30 studs width... If we would have such strict rules like Polish or Chechs LUGs, there wouldn't be anyone to compete.

I'm not interested in entering it in competition i just like the thought of trying to make something that pushes the rules a little. Is there any rules that are the same for all competitions?

from the ones I've seen they all seem to follow a similar build process.. fake engine, steering, use of wheels etc. with that in mind, say i built a tracked truck that. It wouldn't be considered a truck trial because of the lack of tires ??

Tracks are not permitted, fake engine is mandatory.

hi Milan, this what I'm trying to get at,if there is clear rules somewhere i can look at exploiting them. a bit like the engineers do in formula one if that makes sense.

The fake engine for example if it had only one piston it would be less heavy and cause less friction on the drive chain than that of a six pot engine. or maybe the suspension could be based on chassis flex and not sprung like most truck trials are.

We had a trial truck contest long time ago, these were our rules. It was very funny to build complying with all the rules not participate :cry_sad: . We put the rules in agreement Sheepo, Parda, Monki, Legorocky96 and me.

Wow those rules (jorgeopesi) seem even more restrictive than the ones I remember from the Polish. Was there a competition with them? I'd like to see photos and videos, I enjoyed a lot the ones from Sariel :)

Well it was the only competition we did and we make mistakes, so he won a tough and known MOC. My fault was low ground clearance and that I broke an engine,(excuses) I lost  .
