Richard Dower Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 The current battery box is too large imo and its design isint very good. A smaller more compact version could be very useful and able to fit in tighter spots or certainly allow for more building and placement options. What do you think of the current AA box and how do you feel about the triple A version? Quote
Pluto_MkII Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Are you searching for this one? http://search-en.lego.com/?q=88000&cc=DE Currently out of stock, but they did it already. Quote
D3K Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 I think the AA battery box is allright for medium-large size models. The AAA box is better for smaller models of course (as well as trains, I imagine), but what I really want to see is a high capacity LiPo with a significantly smaller form factor. Quote
MajorAlvega Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Something like this? I'm using just one 3.7V LiPo but you can use two in serial and get 7.4V/400 mAh. You can make it even smaller, I have two 90 mAh LiPo from hobby drones, each one is about the size of the PF plug. The problem is how to recharge. If you use just one, you can cut a PF cable and solder your LiPo original plug to it. But if you use two in serial (a 2-cell battery) you need the common point (not just the - and +) because 2-cell chargers need it to «balance» the charge so both cells are charged equally - you could leave a third wire «hang loose» with some kind of plug at the end. JamesJT Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Here is a slighty smaller 9v Battery box but it has the old style connections. http://rebrickable.com/parts/4760c01 I got mine from 8456 but is appears in many sets form 1985 to 1998. Quote
MajorAlvega Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 If you consider the 9V PP3 battery box you can also consider a custom PP3 -> PF adapter and reclaim the space of the box and eventually other adapters. There are people selling it online but you can do it pretty easy. Quote
