Stelario Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 Lately I became a happy owner of few blue wheel from chima. The original vehicles are really simple build and looks like the body is made from only 1 piece. The wheels remind me bike from TRON, so I decided to build something similar. This wheels are so far my favorite, they are heavy, well build and roll forever. The only minus is the placement of studs in the back we have plate 2 studs wide and then 1 whole on each side of the tire. The problem is that the whole is between the studs line so it make a job a bit harder. Vehicle #1 I used Liftarm 1x11 but any Liftarm 1x7 and longer will fit. In fact you don't need to use it at all :P but I think it's nicer to cover wheels a bit. The driver unfortunately is half body as i wanted to use this window piece and couldn't make the bike 1 stud longer. In my first project I tried to use Bracket connected to the feet but then the front was 1/2 plate higher/lower so i had to abandon this idea. Instead of legs we have do Hinge Brick 1 x 2. Photos are average quality but I had to take care of my infant who is already hunting my LEGO's or screaming when she sees me holding any. Vehicle #2 I used Liftarm 1 x 9 Bent. This bike is a bit wider as I made it 4 studs wide in the driver section so this time he was able to keep his legs ;P There is 2x1x2 panel around arms so he could fit. Quote
PaddyBricksplitter Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 Nice job man. Looks like a Light cycle from the original movie. Especially in the first picture. Which set did the wheel come in? I would like to get it too. Quote
Stelario Posted February 21, 2015 Author Posted February 21, 2015 http://brickset.com/sets/containing-part-6021353 But most sets have only 1 piece. Quote
Alexander The Great Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 You should definitely use another colour scheme. Quote
fossil1999 Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 (edited) I did not know of those wheels before! Quite different. I think the use of SNOT in #1 lightcycle is good, but my favorite is ightcycle #2. I think it looks very retro-futuristic. I can imagine the minifig controlling the lightcycle using cameras and touchscreens. ;) The sloping roof reminds me of a lobster back, quite cool. I can't help but think though, three of those wheels and you could have a tron trike! Edited February 23, 2015 by fossil1999 Quote
