Hello All,

As I am a big fan of cranes in general, and especially crawler cranes, I decided to make my MOC of a Crawler crane. With the most anticipated introduction of the 42042, which I definitely will buy, I decided to put the pictures of my first MOC online. It's my first build since i don't know how many years.

The Crawler Crane is an ultimate build with full PF functions.

Independent track driving

Slewing

Boom hoist

Runner (winch is installed but the wire is not rigged in these photos)

Main hoist

I've been working at it since a few months and since the original build I already modified a lot of things but the crane is still far from completion. I'm always open for suggestions

Here's the video:

Driving and slewing was done with the IR speed controller, hoisting and lowering the boom is done by a normal IR controller

Really a great model!

May I ask you what thew big shockABS are for?

And how can you command the 2 motor for the 2 track and the motor for slewing with only one ir receiver?

There are actually 3 IR Receivers, 2 in the upper body and 1 in the drive train. The IR receiver in the drive train is situated just after and beneath the rotation disk.

I saw in photos of liebherr cranes that those cranes have struts to prevent the boom raising at a too high angle, or even topping over when raised too far. I copied that with those shocks. Also it keeps tension on the string when lowering the boom from an elevated position, when the relative weight of the boom is low. Once the boom is below a certain angle the relative weight increases thus tensioning the wire by itself.

Really great solution and a great MOC!

Like a preview fullyRC of the new 42042...

It's a pity you didn't take part in TC6 with something like this.

Keep going, U are really a good builder!

Hello all,

Here are some pictures of an addition to my crawler crane. I've added a second boom to have more outreach and to increase the total height of the crane. Due to weight restrictions, I had to take out a section of the main boom, and the wire has been reduced from 4 to only 2 falls. The secondary wire is now used to adjust the height of the second boom.
