Lankygit Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 I appreciate a lot of people probably ask this question, so please don't throw things at me :) I am now at appoint where I am happy with my modular buildings collection and I REALLY want to add a train station to my city. I have been lurking here for a while and I see all the amazing stuff you guys do and coming from a 'Model railway' builder it seems only natural that I gravitate here! So my question is, HE, yes or no. I can pick up 2 brand new sets for £240, which seems very reasonable. Having just half a train isnt really an option. Anyone want to help me justify it? Cheers Quote
Redimus Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 It's a really fun build. Kind of a shame you waited until now, you'd have picked it up for a good £50 less not that long ago. That said, the price is only going to go up, and £240 doesn't sound too bad for an out of print large set. Quote
Lankygit Posted February 20, 2015 Author Posted February 20, 2015 Thanks, I think £120 per set is kind of ok, considering like you pointed out, its out of print now. I paid more for some of my modulars, that i'll never 'play' with. Quote

Honestly, I didnt think this train was as good as Emerald Night and the Maersk but the after market prices are going up faster than I expected. ....and no, you will not be satisified with just 1/2 a train (one set). Lankygit Posted February 20, 2015 Author Posted February 20, 2015 Fab thanks ecmo47, you swayed me.Just bought 2 sets. Quote
CisFran Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 Wow, that's a bit pricey now for £120 per set. I bought a set 2 weeks ago from a toyshop in France, just EUR100 per set. Quote

I'm also looking into a Horizon Express set or two. They are expensive here and I'm getting into this game far, far too late. Do I even want to ask how much it costs on Pick-a-brick to make your railway sleepers "wooden." I love the idea, it's not one that I'll be "borrowing" as it doesn't really fit any themes that I'm running with. Quote

Duq Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 Fab thanks ecmo47, you swayed me.Just bought 2 sets. Cool. Enjoy the build! Next on your shopping list are some orange tiles and other parts on Bricklink to convert the middle bogies into a Jacobs-bogie. Quote

That's probably least expensive way to get lots of them. Now if they put 1x2 brown tiles on the wall, I'd be all set. Quote
kieran Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 I have 2 and think they look great, I made no mods other than to add 2 9v motors and it goes as good as it looks Quote

davidmull Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 Picking up one tomorrow myself. Misb €140. Best price I can get it's rising already. Quote

I am grabbing 1X1, 1X2, and 1X6 brown tiles on bricklink every chance that I get so they will have some friends. Quote
LoneBrickerSG Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 Anyone want to help me justify it? Cheers Sure. When it's running around at a decent speed it looks absolutely beautiful. Quote
Chubbs Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 Don't forget to add the price of the PF to your total. More than likely 1 motor won't be enough. Search the forum for people's suggestions how to best set up 2 HE's. Sherway Gardens?? Just curious how close you might be to my neck of the woods, I'm from Kitchener. That's my local store and I'm not too far from Kitchener either Quote
ust60 Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 Hello friends of Lego Train my own Horizon Express consists "only" six parts. But he's about 2 Meter long ( 6.56 feet) It is a matter of personal taste. Head Cart and the end-Cart are extended by 10 knobs other Passenger cars are around 8 knobs extended. Only extend one side is the wrong way this is the right way on both sides I do not want annoy aka Lanky Git. But I have two Horizon Express shortly before Christmas get (in addition) original packaging are in the basement dry and warm I had my two Horizon Express with two PF motors 88002 and an PF-8884 receiver ...... plus a bag Lego stones and Lego parts for the Horizon Express also submitted for only about 20 pounds more than you paid. the old cartons next to the new cartons I wanted to seek your first post on Friday at 11:05 AM at 03:32 PM nor write but it was already too late. Yours sincerely, Udo Quote

dr_spock Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Just after picking this up :) Nice. Don't forget to leave room the 2015 Technic sets. Quote
LoneBrickerSG Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Ehhh.. why not. Here's mine. I need to fix the loco numbers. They don't match. I might try to get one more passenger car, but mine won't get too much longer. I know the real trains are seven or eight cars between each loco, but I just can't afford that. Quote
davidmull Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Nice. Don't forget to leave room the 2015 Technic sets. Trains are nearly taking over technic but I will buy the Merc :) I think trains are more addictive :) Ehhh.. why not. Here's mine. I need to fix the loco numbers. They don't match. doydy Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 was torn between this and the passenger train, just decided to get this one as prices are going up already but realised that 1 set is not enough. Quote

At least another engine to balance it. Quote
Lankygit Posted February 27, 2015 Author Posted February 27, 2015 So I am halfway through the first set and I am totally in love! I am going to need a bigger LEGO room and more money... Quote
