Pizzareno Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 (edited) Hi everyone. As people are probably aware I'm a slow builder and my creations take a long time to come together. I'm not altogether as creative and have the great skills that many on here have and show but I'm always pleased by the kind comments and great advice that I receive. So here is my latest wagon. Cos I'm quite proud of this one. It is roughly based off of this - I have a few pieces of rolling stock now. Enough I feel to be able to have a nice display. Here is a link to my Flickr if you feel like checking them out - https://www.flickr.c...s/42922809@N03/ Anyway I hope you enjoy and brick on and all that good stuff. P.S. if anyone is into cricket, I'm off now for 2 weeks to go watch some games at the World Cup. Go New Zealand! Edited February 16, 2015 by Pizzareno Quote
eurotrash Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 It looks good and I like the amount of greebling you've included. Quote
jtlan Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 I feel like I've never seen a model of a tank car in this color before. Quite striking. The trucks feel a little small to me. Maybe because they're more covered on the "prototype"? Try stretching them by 1 stud and see how that looks. The white walkway and black lids also feel a bit out of place. Maybe switch them to grey, and use a tile or this piece for the walkway itself instead of a plate. Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Very unusual color, I like the rope details and the ladder on the side! Amazing work compared to the real thing! Quote
lightningtiger Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Cool and realistic looking tanker......Brick On 'Pizzareno' ! Quote
Pizzareno Posted February 17, 2015 Author Posted February 17, 2015 Thanks everyone once again for the nice comments. It gives me great confidence to keep building and working to push myself to make better models. I have made some changes jtlan based on your suggestions. Incidentally the walkway was always grey or bley as they say. But I have put the piece you suggested in place anyway. The lighting makes the grey look much lighter than it actually is. I only have one dark grey round plate so that is why there is one grey one black in this picture. I definitely like the longer bogies though. They'll be staying. What do you reckon about the changes? jtlan Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Looking good! I didn't notice that the walkway was already light grey in the photos. I'd probably consider adding a bit more detail to the side of the truck (where you have the 1x4 plate right now). Somehow I only just noticed that the tank itself is 8-wide. Do you have an appropriately massive locomotive to go with this? Quote
Richfilth Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Do you have an appropriately massive locomotive to go with this? ummester has created a great locomotive for this wagon Quote
pirzyk Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Nice work, I also really like your tan & green tram on flicker. The only comment I have would be a suggestion if you could swap out the technics axles for the train bogies. My fear would be that it would mess up your nice work on the outside of the wheels (the 5 stud technics beam, etc). The metal axles have much less rolling resistance but if you are not going to run the car much, that is not really as big of a concern. Quote
3BrickFriends Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Nice wagon. The colour is very striking on that design. Just need 30 years of dust on it so it looks like the photo! :) Quote

All my rolling stock is 8 wide and this tank is a plate or two higher than my loading gauge but should look ok with everything else. Nice work, I also really like your tan & green tram on flicker. Thank you :-) I find designing bogies one of the most difficult things. If anyone has some suggestions for a design or something they think would work well please let me know. Quote
