Faefrost Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 Look, I'm not saying rah rah competitors and clone brands are "better", "perfect" or are even "good". But some of them do occasionally have a good idea. And I don't so much mean "Lego should make this SNOT piece". I mean just a good concept idea that is not in any way copy protected and results in something positive. Here are my two examples Megabloks (the horror!) Call of Duty theme - Care Packages. In short above and beyond the basic idea from the game of weapons caches you find, MB put them in their sets as these nice roughly 1" x 1" x 2" storage boxes to hold all your minifig accesories. They stack with studs on top and tubes on bottom. So it is very very easy to keep all your sets minifig accesories together and avoid losing them. Rather than the will they wont they give you a place to store your lightsabers, blasters and frying pans in the build, they give you a little box to store the stuff in. BRILLIANT! Megabloks - Signature Series - Handles on the Boxes! Yeah a oh so simple idea that I wish Lego would steal for the UCS line. The MB Signature series. (Their UCS line if you will) boxes are all "suitcase" style boxes with a sturdy plastic handle to carry them. After dragging a Sandcrawler through the mall one day I fell in love with this concept. Make the product easy to buy and just as easy to take home. Standard Lego packaging is superior in every way to MB except for this one little feature. Quote
WarSquirrel Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 (edited) These are some ideas I would love to see lego do. Another one is in some sets there is a small plastic window to see a built minifigure, this would be better than the scale box on the side and could show you the mini figures in better detail- http://www.amazon.co...e/dp/B00MY3SUNK - here is what I mean Edited February 16, 2015 by WarSquirrel Quote

But, it is just cheaper to to the way they are doing it now. Quote
CptPJs Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 It's easier for people to steal minifigs that way, so I'm glad they don't. Quote
Artanis I Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 TLG don't use plastic windows anymore or handles on the boxes etc because it increases costs and is less "environmentally friendly". They have actually gone in the other direction from what you guys are suggesting for those 2 reasons. Quote

In the late 80s / early 90s, megabloks used to do boxes of plain bricks and small sets in larger versions of these, I guess about 2.5 inch x 2.5 inch x 5 inch. They were great as they stack, you can build off them (so can use them as light weight filler to achieve height under a structure such as a hill or mountain) and good for travelling with a small kit. legoman19892 Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 If you are buying from a LEGO Store ask for some bag handles. They are neat 3M things that are taped to the bag. Very sturdy. Quote
