The Kid Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 So I caught an advance screening of this earlier today. Absolutely brilliant, apart from seeing Bart's doodle. ;-) I liked Maggie's first word. :-D The plot was pretty good. And I absolutely loved the part at the start with Itchy & Scratchy and Homer's "We get this free on TV, why are we paying for it??" (Or something to that effect ;-)). The whole thing was hilarious. Another part I liked was the FOX advertising. Some little kids were sitting behind us and got confused when that came up. :-P Of course, there was the usual arrogant little berks who throw popcorn and never shut up, but we didn't do anything - didn't want to spoil the film. They scarpered afterwards before we could get them. >:-( |-/ ;-) TK Quote

Mr Hobbles Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 A few friends and I are going to see it on Sunday night, I genuinely cant wait. What with Transformers last weekend, Simpsons movie this weekend, Evan Almighty next weekend, and The Bourne Ultimatum the week after, I'm gonna be spending nearly all my waking time in the cinema! Quote
The Kid Posted July 25, 2007 Author Posted July 25, 2007 Simple, my friend - magic. ;-) Yoda, can I tell them who dies yet? X-D There's much more great stuff in this movie that I haven't talked about, but, alas, I am tired. ;-) 'Night all. :-) TK Quote

5150 Lego Posted July 31, 2007 Posted July 31, 2007 Well, Since i've been seeing the previews since last year, i was really excited about this. But after seeing some of the previews i was less than thrilled :-/ . Looks like a 2 hour episode. Though i haven't seen it myself, some frineds of mine confirmed this. But being a big simpsons fan, i'll hold off judgment till i see it myself tommorw. Hearing positive reviews from you guys gives me hope. Quote
PSPguy Posted July 31, 2007 Posted July 31, 2007 Lol. I liked the Barts doodle part where they did all that and then they just show it. Lol. I swear the movie was so funny everyone (including myself) laughed aleast every 5 minutes. Quote
Clonie Posted August 1, 2007 Posted August 1, 2007 "The Siiimpsooons movieonthebigscreen" "Why are we paying to see something that we get to see for free on TV? I think everyone in this theatre is and idiot, especially YOU!" "Da Da Da Da Da Da Da Da Da Da Da Da" "Steady... Steady..." "He's not Bono." Hahaha. Probably not exact quotes, but anyway. Quote
5150 Lego Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 Well i guess i'll be the minnority. I guess someone has too. It was just as i expected. An hour and a half long episode. Nothing really speacail. It was really funny, and i like the fact that they were on the big screen gave them the opertunity to use a little bit more "adult" humor. But other than that, there really wasn't anything you wouldn't see in a regualr simpsons episode. But to be honest, i really didn't see how they could do anything differnt. I mean, i completely respsect the way they were true to the series, but its not like they were doing anything differnt, or couldn't be true. Was it the simpsons? Absoulty! Butto be honest, i've laughed just as much from 1/2 hour episodes. Quote
štauder Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 Lol. I liked the Barts doodle part where they did all that and then they just show it. Lol. Ralph Wiggum - I like boys now. Just genious! X-D Quote
Brainbox Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 (edited) Well i guess i'll be the minnority. I guess someone has too. It was just as i expected. An hour and a half long episode. You know, that's just what my mum said. And I think I agree. But does that mean I didn't like it? Does it hell, it was great. I've just got back now, and I have to say, I thought it was really funny. It was good, becaue there weren't too many people in the cinema, so I didn't really miss any jokes and stuff. Best bit? I'm inclined to say 'Spider-Pig', but I think for me it was Comic Book Guy talking about the meaning of EPA. "It was the noise that Green Lantern made when Sinestro dropped him into a vat of acid." I mean, that was there for people like me. Pure genius! :-D Edited August 6, 2007 by Brainbox Quote

To me,when i see a movie on the big screen thats based on a series/franchise, thenit should beable to bring more to it, or show a differnt light to the series. Just like Transformers did. Un fortuntly, i just didn't see that possible with the Simspons. Wasit funny? Absolutley. Was it what the Simpsons have always been about? Absolutely. Did it bring anything new? Other than some nuity, and marge swearing, no. it didn't. Itwas just funny. Whitch was great. But nothing i haven't seen in a 1/2 episode. :-( Quote
Brainbox Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 Its not that i didn'tlike it. I did. No, I know. That's not what I meant. But I do appear to have implied that accidentally. Quote

Timento Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 I saw it today, I liked it a lot *sweet* It was very funny :-D One of my favorite jokes was the Alaskan bar, Eski Moe's :-D Quote

Clonie Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 What was Maggie's first word? I don't remeber that bit... Quote
Kikuichimonji Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 I saw it on holiday in the US. It wasn't really bad, but I just expected more good jokes. There were too much lame parts IMO (although the American audience seemed to enjoy every second of it judging by the amount of laughing). The part with Bart naked on his skateboard was pure genius, as was Schwarzenegger as president (although I don't see why they didn't just use Rainier Wolfcastle, who's based on Arnie after all). Other then that, the subplots were absolute crap and only seemed to be there to make the movie longer. Lisa's romance was written terrible and doesn't add anything to the story. The Bart/Flanders thing wasn't that good either. All in all, it's not a bad movie. Actually, it's just a 90-minute Simpsons episode. Luckily it's a good one. Quote
