garethjellis Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Here is my mostly finished WIP of the A4. I have some transmission problems that will need a redesign . Quote
Srbandrews Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 (edited) Crikey! That's amazing. I've always felt A4s were a bit overrated, but you've done a very nuce job of this one. It would be interesting to see what it looked like with red wheels. They'd probably look too garish though, I imagine. Edited February 8, 2015 by Srbandrews Quote
Electricsteam Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Amazing work! How did you even get some of those bricks that way o.o Is it PF? Quote
zephyr1934 Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Oh wow! Looks like she is going 100 mph when she is standing still (just like the real thing). Excellent build. BTW, are those custom metal tracks she is sitting on in the photo? Quote
LoneBrickerSG Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 (edited) British rail isn't really my thing, but it looks pretty good to me. Edited February 9, 2015 by LoneBrickerSG Quote
eurotrash Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 The pictures look incredible, but having had the opportunity last night to see it in real brick they really don't do it justice. This is a superb build. Quote
Lazarus Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Ohh did not notice the track nice work, is that the code 250 track :-) it does look better than the 200 I was using. Quote
escortmad79 Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 That looks spot on. Any chance of instructions? Quote
BricksMcgee Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Nice, you've captured the curves of the original brilliantly! Quote
Kodan Black Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Really pretty build and some great build techniques. The blue color really pops! Quote
codefox421 Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Ohh did not notice the track nice work, is that the code 250 track :-) it does look better than the 200 I was using. I didn't notice that at first either. Good job making your custom rails fit in perfectly with LEGO trains! Quote
Vliebricker Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Superb modelling! Really looks great, especially in the blue colour. Hopefully she will run smoothly through the curves. What rail are you using? Quote
garethjellis Posted February 11, 2015 Author Posted February 11, 2015 Thank you all for your posts, Here are a couple of updates, transmission is fixed, this first picture was the original one using M motors, there was so much torque that it was pushing the bevels apart, using inspiration from the emerald night I created a complete new drive using one L motor.. The train copes just fine on regular Lego curves and switches, however it does not like flex track (who does ha). I gave it a tow test pulling two of my class 455 coaches and it ran great. Track, I have created some alternative 9v rail, development is still in its youth, I am waiting for more Lego parts to do more testing with it.. It is using aluminum code 250 G scale rail and seems to be working out pretty good so far, Lazarus has also been testing with this method of power rail, he has a good informative thread going. I am in the middle of creating a switch with the same rail which is 80 studs long, 28 wide, basically 5 sections of straight rail long and 1 base plate wide Quote
Redimus Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 I notice from your sig that you've designed some coaches to go with the A4, do you have any photos of those? I'm trying to come up with some 7wide generic Southern coaches and am really struggling for inspiration. Wilst these will obviously be too wide for my purposes, and the wrong company, I'm still interest to see how you've tackled this type of coach. Quote
Lazarus Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 I have some 7 wide Mk1 coach plans, PM me. Quote
Ex cinno Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 What amazing engine: I love its curved line. Well done. Quote
ScotNick Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Looking great, only the driving wheels look a little bit too small, but that's hard to change Quote
