Subix Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 (edited) For quite some time I had idea to build mansion in secession stile from beginig of 20th century. I ended up with this: And place it into a garden: It is made from all sides. Back: Side view: Roof is full of spikes. Are there too many?: Sight from a baloon: More pics (when public) at: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=552765 I hope you like it. Thanks for comments. notaromantic Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 (edited) That is absolutely wonderful. I'm going through a Victorian phase myself, so I am really appreciating the build. Your landscaping is as impressive. And I know those brown windows are HTF... Thank you for the photos, they'll keep me busy for a while appreciating them. Who doesn't love a garden? It must've been hard to keep this under wraps until you were done. What was the process like? And I'm curious about the dimensions, not wanting to sit here and count them out.... Kristel Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Impressive mansion, but it is the garden that steals the show for me. The colour and variety in the garden is just beautiful! You asked about the spikes on the roof - my first thought was that there were too many. However, once you get to the picture with the garden beds around the mansion, the spikes almost fade into the background. Quote
lightningtiger Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 How Victorian of you to create an awesome looking structure and wonderful gardens.......Brick On 'Subix' ! Quote
Steckley Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Wonderful build! I think you have just the right number of spikes on the roof. The garden is equally as impressive and the fountain is a terrific feature! Quote
GI_Jack Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 That is stunning! So much detail. It is very inspiring. Quote
eurotrash Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Very effective! And, no you haven't used too many spikes - it suits the style perfectly. Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Excellent MOC Subix. Excellent work detailing the exterior Quote
LegoSjaak Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 That is a great build!! You've created your own style, it is different from other builds i've seen. Together with that expressive garden it is a really nice project!! Quote
cimddwc Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Really a great building and a great garden! And I agree with Kristel on the spikes. :) Quote
ER0L Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Very stylish, I especially love that avant-corps. The spikes are just right. I love the garden, too (in spite of that giant spider ). It rather looks like a botanical garden with plants from all over the world. Great job! Quote
Withacee Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 An absolutely brilliantly constructed building. It all fits very well together. Is there an interior? Looks like a court house, from the minifig by the entrance? My only problem (since you asked) are the sticks/spikes. I'm a bit taken aback by the amount of them. Maybe replace some of them with cones only? Keep clicking those bricks together! By the way, your brickshelf link leads to "This folder is not yet public". Quote
King Andy Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Amazing mansion, a real masterpiece. This would be perfect on a display. Quote
Redhead1982 Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 It's great. I like the design of the building with so many little details. Overall, the decorative spires on the roof give a first impression of being too many, but on the pictures of the whole building with the park, they simply blend in. I think looking at the them from too close, they do look redundant, but they should be looked at from a distance. The park itself is really interesting with so many different plant species, both exotic and endogenous. Although I'd prefer a more ''classic'' style of the gardens surrounding the mansion, as it is it looks amazing. Well done and I'm definitely looking forward seeing it at LUGs exhibition. Quote
Lady K Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Absolutely stunning! When added with the beautiful exotic garden, the spikes fall into place in the overall picture. Very well done! Quote
ReplicaOfLife Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Great building. I agree with what was said about the spikes, from up close, it seems like there's too many, but on the pics from a wider angle, they aren't as noticable. Quote
peedeejay Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 This is great. The building itself is awesome but in combination with the garden it's just wonderful. Thanks for sharing! Quote
Captain Braunsfeld Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Really great - especially with the garden, Nice flowers. Quote
