Known colours are those listed in set inventories. For example, 553b is known to exist in Flat Silver in a TMNT set. Are you sure it's not that colour? Bricklink sellers don't always get their colours exactly right.

I have flat silver parts and pearl light gray parts.....its deffo PLG in colour. Pearl is very distinctive...

Flat Silver = 221512.jpg

Pearl Light Gray = $_12.JPG

^ it's NOT LBG...i have those and compared LBG vs. PLG...deffo different.

First of all, BrickLink is often not very accurate when it comes to colors (and Element IDs, and molds ...). Secondly, flat silver and PLG have been used interchangeably at BrickLink over the years, and have been used to indicate different colours.

Watch out for fake lego. Every once in a while they slip in to some bricklink orders. edit: hmm upside down. oh well you get the idea.

I'm going to counter the above, which is odd, as I'd usually be the voice of doom. You may have gotten a prototype, and/or special production part. Sometimes, on Bricklink, you get parts that were not included in any set, and were either made as parts for Legoland model designers, or just prototypes. And, once in a blue moon, a former Lego employee sells them. Just talk to user 1974, he has a shocking amount of prototype parts. Crowkillers/Paul Boratko also has a 4l differential in black.
