juddtaylor Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 I bought a pet shop off of craigslist, and it's half open, and there are pieces missing. I seem to have all of the #3 bags, all but the small #4 bag, and then a small #1 bag. The rest of the parts are loose. I know I'm missing one of the baseplates and several other parts as I was trying to build it last night. The instructions only have a full inventory, rather than an inventory for each bag. Does anyone have such an inventory (per bag, or per number)? I'd hate to have to open the remaining bags just to be able to count off all of the pieces on the inventory chart. That's going to make assembly a lot more difficult when I get to that. Does anyone else have any ideas how I can figure out what's missing? Quote

SSJ2 Dark Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 If you are LDD-savvy, I think you could download the Pet Shop LXF file, delete everything except the building floor you're interested in verifying, then output the parts inventory: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=41226&st=1775 Quote

Thanks for the suggestion! Quote
notaromantic Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 I would've cut open those bags already. Just keep their contents separate... Quote
juddtaylor Posted February 5, 2015 Author Posted February 5, 2015 This is my first set where it's significantly incomplete. It's a bummer, but I got it as part of a lot including a complete PR and Simpson's House for just $300. I think I did pretty good on the lot as a whole, but the PS is the critical one I wanted to be complete as it will discontinue first. Quote
Steckley Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 At that price it's hard to complain if you are missing a few pieces, unless the seller advertised it as a complete set. Quote

Disregard this information if you are already aware, but compare what you have against the BrickLink Inventories: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemInv.asp?S=10218-1 http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemInv.asp?S=71006-1 And then a store, or stores, that have what you're missing, or the majority of what your missing, at a cost, plus shipping, that is reasonable to you, and then order, and start building. It just wasn't clear from your posts... Quote
talos Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Watch the YouTube review by Brickformula. At the end of the review, he shows each bag, and what should be in each bag, all laid out. I love his set reviews, too bad he doesn't do them anymore. Here is a link: Quote
juddtaylor Posted February 6, 2015 Author Posted February 6, 2015 Well last night I opened everything up with my daughter and we sorted and then inventoried everything. It was missing 141 pieces (52 unique), so not too much. The worst was one of the baseplates being missing. Those aren't cheap from US vendors, unfortunately, and I don't want to wait for one to ship from Europe. It's already all on order on bricklink. If it weren't for one odd item I could have got it in less than 3 orders, but I'm good. The total was about $30 (guessing a little bit due to shipping). I'm certainly not complaining about the deal! I figured I am minimum $50 ahead on the other sets even without considering the nearly complete pet shop thrown in. The seller was pretty straightforward about the condition. He said it weighed about right, but couldn't say it was actually complete without doing a full inventory, which he understandably didn't want to do at that price. He seems to specialize in finding sets with major box condition issues, and then passes the savings along on craigslist (I'm sure he's making money, though--good for him). He's a saint if you ask me!
