Dragonator Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 Thanks for the review on this, now I definitely have to get it! I like the fact that the minifigs can actually fit inside, and that it is furnished in some way. *y* Quote
zz-80 Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 (edited) I bought and built it yesterday. No missing or wrong parts, no dreaded sticker sheet, some printed parts and the booklets came in great shape! *y* I absolutely love this set! *wub* The color scheme is great and the build was anything but annoying or repetitive. Five nice minifigs included, only the bley light saber hilts are a letdown - but I got plenty of chromes spare. It's also a great parts pack, but I honestly dislike the front. It looks a bit like an autobus, but I think it might grow on me (space trucking on). Maybe I'll get some spare parts and mod it into a Tantive IV... :-D As a fan of the OT I have to admit that this is easily the best SW set this year, maybe the best since the rereleased MF (Not regarding the UCS sets)! I also bought the 10178 yesterday - so I might change my mind when I have built this one... :-D Edited October 18, 2007 by zz-80 Quote
Opproperaar Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 (edited) Personally, I'm a bit disappointed. Not by the review which is quite excellent, mind you, but by the model itself. I have this book at home Star Wars episode, incredible cross sections and the first vehicle they describe is the Rupublic Cruiser. When you go by what's in the book the model could've been so much better. That one escape pod which you can fit two people in is actually a conference room with room to seat 16 people! The ship has elevators, crew bunks etc. The model could've instead been a nice collecter model like the big falcon or those TIE fighters/bombers. Of course that's just my opinion being the nerdy Star Wars fan I am :-P Edited October 21, 2007 by Hairy Ruben Quote
Derek Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 I wonder why LEGO didn't do Qui-Gon's hair in reddish brown. Hopefully they didnt destroy the mold! I was such a cool headpiece! Quote
M'Kyuun Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 I knew you'd like it when you saw it for real! :-) :-) :-) Qui-Gon's head finally turned up in the post after a very long wait and two calls to LEGO customer service. He looks SOOOOO much better now. At last I can sit back and really enjoy this set now. *wub* Hi Kernow, last week, I used the replacement parts section in customer service, and called Lego Direct to request 2 Qui-Gon heads( yep, I bought two sets at my TRU only to find bearded Obi-Wan heads in both). Today, I got a letter from them stating they couldn't identify the part I was requesting. Once again, I filled out all the info in the replacement parts section in customer service which, btw, does not have the Qui-Gon head listed. I provided instruction booklet numbers, as well as the part number assigned to the head piece, the page number, a description, etc. My question is, how did you identify the head so they understood what you needed? Any help is very much appreciated. Thanks. -M'Kyuun Quote
captaintau Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 Just finished building mine. Haven't bought any LEGO in ages due to low funds. A temporary second job has meant I could buy this while I stil could. Love it. Great build. As has been said, hardly any repetition. No stickers. Decent playability value. Nice features. Now, where do I put it *wacko* Quote
Morgan19 Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 (edited) The model could've instead been a nice collecter model like the big falcon or those TIE fighters/bombers. As a flip-side, I actually prefer the System-ized big ships (like this one and the ISD). I'm not much for the UCS sets: I find the System-scale versions of these larger ships are nice because you get a more affordable ship in an easily-managed size, often with some neat play features and good figs. m19 Edited November 28, 2007 by Morgan19 Quote
simonjedi Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 I'm getting this set for Christmas, good to hear its an enjoyable set to build, i found the ISD slightly boring Quote
Lt. Veers Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 Isn't this kinda false advertising? They're showing us a flesh tone Qui-gon, but the give us sn Obi-wan EP III head. Anyone agree? Quote

Always read through the whole topic :-P That's a very known problem, it's a mistake. Contact them and they'll ship you out the correct head. Quote

Also by now i expect lego to have sorted the problem out, when i phoned them back in Aug they told me that it would be sorted asap. Quote
JimBee Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 what! aw man, wish i got the real qui gon head in mine! better call lego real fast! need to replace my yellow qui gon... anyways, nice review, although i couldnt figure out how to put on the escape pod, maybe i made a mistake, but nothing a few adjustments cant fix! ;-) Quote
TheTacoMan Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 OP - I recently bought this set at the post-Christmas sales madness, and i DID receive the fabled fleshie qui-gon, so if you call up lego they might send one out to you Proof: Quote
MightyMegs Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 I bought this set over a year ago but never put it together. Yesterday I decided it was time... and I love it. It fits in very nicely with the white/red color scheme of the Republic Clone Wars vehicles. And mine came with the correct Qui-Gon head... yipee! Quote
sologuy369 Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 It's also at this point that you come across a big disappointment. On the box you get a flesh Qui-Gon. What is actually in the box is an EpIII Obi-Wan. Come on LEGO - why change it? |-/ All the figures look impressive in the flesh despite the BIG mistake. I didn't have that mistake. Other people I know did. I GOT THE RIGHT HEAD! Quote
Big Cam Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 I didn't have that mistake. Other people I know did. I GOT THE RIGHT HEAD! This was a common issue back then, and after time they did correct it, so unless you bought one of the first sets, you probably got the right head. Quote
382nd Legionnaire Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 good review! i hate how this mixed up the qui-gon minifig. Quote
Darth Hawken Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 great review, I got the right head but I hate how lego used hoods instead of hair, Qui Gon's hair was sooooo sweet I only have two though Quote
Destroydacre Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 (edited) I just got this set several weeks ago, and like others have stated, even the reviews don't do this set justice. It's a brilliant set, honestly one of my favorites. And you can still find sealed ones of these on ebay for roughly retail price. It's kind of surprising considering that most of the other 2007 sets have shot up in value considerably. Of note, my Republic Cruiser came with the wrong head. I contacted Lego and they sent me the correct Qui-Gon head despite the fact this set hasn't been produced for nearly a year according to brickset. Lego's customer service really is second to none. Scout Trooper Guy Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 Nice review!!! I wish i got this set! But now i cant get it any more! ...Ill try Ebay... Quote
