What I meant was George didn't write the first script for Emprie Strikes Back. Leigh Brackett wrote it based on notes from George, after Leigh Brackett died George worked on it, but it was finished by Lawrence Kasdan. My point being that the scripts were not pre-written, and were written as needed.

I see. I would venture a guess this was taken because of the stress he'd gotten from directing Ep. 4.

He didn't struggle for three years, he said he's been telling the story to his kids all of his life and the whole saga was his life dream. He only started with Episode 4 because it was the most marketable movie.

Where did you find this? Be interesting to read.

You know the movie was originally about Luke Starkiller, a space potato farmer, right? hmpf.gif Brilliant, George. He changed it to what it is now when he realized that nobody cared about space potato farmers

It was, but so what?

I wish George would move on from the whole farming thing, especially the moisture farmers; what a silly idea that is.

I find it a nice little touch. You're in a desert and you're looking for water! To each his own (opinion).

I suggest we move this discussion to another forum because it has nothing to do with the original idea :-D !

I thought this thread made you sad and you weren't stopping by any more...glad you're here anyway! X-D

I think this thread is fine where it is. Occasiocally GMV stops by and lists some more graphic mistakes and inconsistencies, so it's close enough. If we moved every thread that went off-topic, I'd never find my posts! :-D :-D :-D

Ah, I see it's fun to do this now...

I'm just saying that it's gotten a tad off topic from it's original purpos, but i suppose that's fine.

I'm sorry :'-( I didn't mean you, if that helps :-)

Yeah, Sinner. He's saying my posts are like a pile of poop. It's not all about you. Although that is your head in the pile of poop, granted...

Glad I could help clear that up! X-D

I know I'm just throwing a little pebble on the stack here, but I just read an interview about the new Clone Wars CG serie and there's a part in it that kind of confirms the idea some of us have about George Lucas and what he thinks of the EU...

I know how everyone likes to put their little niches in the timeline. It is very important to me and we try and make it work as best we can. But when there are ideas George has and he wants to make the best story possible, and I say, 'Well, we can't do that because [Commander] Alpha was in a test tube on Kamino at the time', George will challenge me and say, 'Come on Dave, you're taking things too seriously.' So we try to make it all work as best we can, but just so you guys know, we are trying to pay attention to that stuff and make it all work -- but at times it's hard!

here's the whole article : LINK

That attitude is all well and good, but stories should then be labled as "alternate reality" or something in those cases. Comic do similar things, but generally make it clear when a story isn't canon. Many people do take Star Wars too seriously and try to fit every little story into the Star Was reality.
