suenkachun Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 In the second wave of Ultra Agents in 2015, AppBrick Gadgets were introduced together with the Second Ultra Agents App. The AppBricks played quite an important role in the App. As shown in here and here, the basic functions of the AppBricks are introduced. From the Second Ultra Agents App, we find the following information. Three functions of AppBricks: First, they act as Intel finders in the App, just like the three tools in the First App, and finding all clues will once again unlock "Mini-Builds". Second, they act as the "joysticks" of the new "App Brick Games", so you play the games using them. Third, you unlock Comic Panels with "ANTIMATTER's Twist Tool", the fifth App Brick Gadget. The three future Ultra Agent Sets will definitely include App Bricks as well, as Part Two of the Second Ultra Agents App will be released in June 2015, featuring three missions related to the three future sets. The problem is, you need to buy all of the new sets in the second wave and the three future sets in order to collect all the AppBricks and play with all of the features in the Second Ultra Agents App. Therefore it's very costly. To help reduce the costs for people (like me) who just want to play with the Second Ultra Agents App fully but not buy all of the new sets, I came up with an idea. I first saw Battle Packs in LEGOLAND. After reading more about it here, I decided that it will be a great idea for the Ultra Agents to have a Battle Pack. Here are some more details. The Battle Packs will feature all of the AppBrick Gadgets and a number of selected Minifigures with accessories which are directly related to the AppBrick Gadgets, such as Agent Curtis Bolt and ANTIMATTER. To be specific, as there are still future sets in the series, the Battle Pack will be released after the three future sets are released, so that their AppBricks and Minifigures can also be included. This can allow people to purchase only the Battle Pack at a lower price in order to play with all the functions of the Second Ultra Agents App, and at the same time own some of the Minifigures in the Series, without having to buy all of the new sets. If you also want the AppBricks to be available at a lower price/individually or have any ideas, please contribute to my topic. Thank you for everyone's attention. Quote
Mr Greeble Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Sorry, but the whole reason the appbricks are in all different sets is because lego knows they can get more money by splitting them up, therefore making people buy them all. (But I do like your idea) Quote
suenkachun Posted January 29, 2015 Author Posted January 29, 2015 (edited) Sorry, but the whole reason the appbricks are in all different sets is because lego knows they can get more money by splitting them up, therefore making people buy them all. (But I do like your idea) You're absolutely right. My idea is trying to tackle that issue and make things more affordable. It's true that you can make more money by selling bits of it in each set, but LEGO should be more considerate. If they really wanted to do that, then they should have made the Second Ultra Agents App exclusive for the people who buy the sets. Last year, I downloaded the First Ultra Agents App without knowing about the LEGO Ultra Agents Series, and playing the six missions there got me into the series, although I did not buy any of the sets in the first wave either. Now I want to continue playing the Second Ultra Agents App and LEGO's telling me that now I need to buy the sets in order to play with all the functions in the App! People like me simply do not have that much money, but we still want to enjoy the entire Second Ultra Agents App (at an affordable cost, of course)! Edited January 29, 2015 by suenkachun Quote
Agent Fusion Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 As far as I know, as long as the app bricks are in the right position, it doesn't matter what set you got them in. You could probably even Bricklink them, if you wanted. Quote

You could probably even Bricklink them, if you wanted. Thanks for the information. I will definitely try this method soon. If what you are saying is true, then we would only need maximum four AppBricks to create all of the AppBrick Gadgets! Since it doesn't matter what set you got them in, we can definitely purchase the parts individually and play with the Second Ultra Agents App fully. The parts don't even have to be in the same colour, so problem solved! The only thing left to do is to open the instructions of the five sets and the three future sets (when they're launched) from LEGO's website respectively, then find out exactly how each AppBrick Gadget is built then try to recreate them in similar Bricks, making sure that the AppBricks are in the right position.A really simple solution right now is to purchase all of the required Bricks individually on LEGO's website, as long as LEGO Bricks can be delivered to your country. Agent Fusion Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Yes, the App Bricks use the multitouch technology on the tablet to achieve different effects. The bricks themselves contain no real technology. They are simply made out of a plastic designed not to scratch the screen. Quote
suenkachun Posted January 30, 2015 Author Posted January 30, 2015 I tried to find the AppBrick on Bricklink, but failed to do so, therefore I went back to LEGO's (UK) Website to do a bit of research. The results are some pricing information I got for everyone's reference. I assume that you want to purchase all of the original Bricks used for the five AppBrick Gadgets in the five sets found in the second wave of Ultra Agents and build them in their original form (but it's not possible to recreate them exactly, as the AppBrick Gadget of Set 70167 Invizable Gold Getaway requires a Sticker shown here, where it is the rectangular one in the lower middle edge with two circles on it; but you can always print out the image in the right size and cut out the sticker to stick it on). Some of the more common Bricks can be purchased via the "Pick A Brick" service, while other special/unique Bricks can be purchased via the Bricks And Pieces Service. I might do the same very soon as long as I have enough money. After checking all of the required Bricks in the above two pages, here are the total prices of the Bricks in British Pounds (The actual list of required Bricks will be shown later below, but the colour of the Bricks are not included, and if you see a hyphen before the Brick ID, it is a special/unique Brick). 70166 Spyclops Infiltration: GBP 1.77. 70167 Invizable Gold Getaway: GBP 1.76. 71068 Drillex Diamond Job: GBP 3.58. 70169 Agent Stealth Patrol: GBP 4.62. 70170 UltraCopter vs. AntiMatter: GBP 4.94. That gives you a grand total of GDP 16.67. However, you actually only need maximum four AppBricks, so if you only purchase four AppBricks instead of 15, your new grand total will be GDP 9.85. I hope that this information has helped all of you who simply want to own the AppBrick Gadgets and play fully with the Second Ultra Agents App like me. Here is the actual list of required Bricks and their prices in British Pounds. If more than one of a certain Brick is required, its price has already been multiplied. 70166 Spyclops Infiltration 3005749 x1 Round Plate 1x1 GBP 0.06 4210700 x1 Brick 1x1 With 4 Knobs GBP 0.23 -6103410 x1 Spider GBP 0.24 -6103777 x2 AppBricks GBP 1.24 70167 Invizable Gold Getaway 300401 x1 Brick 1x2 GBP 0.10 -6103777 x2 AppBricks GBP 1.24 371026 x2 Plate 1x4 GBP 0.20 4244369 x2 Roof Tile 1x1x2/3 GBP 0.12 6066124 x1 Wall Element 1x2x1 GBP 0.10 71068 Drillex Diamond Job -4612829 x1 Conical Horn Ø 3.2 Shaft GBP 0.49 -6103777 x3 AppBricks GBP 1.86 4210700 x1 Brick 1x1 With 4 Knobs GBP 0.23 -6109849 x1 Armour For Hand W/Ø 3.2 Shaft GBP 1.00 70169 Agent Stealth Patrol -6106471 x1 Glass For Frame 1x4x3 No. 4 GBP 1.19 4530589 x1 Frame 1x4x3 GBP 0.23 -6064228 x1 Inverted Roof Tile 6x1x1 GBP 0.24 -4541191 x2 Roof Tile With Lattice 1x2x2/3 GBP 0.12 -6103777 x4 AppBricks GBP 2.48 4567338 x2 Nose Cone Small 1x1 GBP 0.12 4633691 x2 Round Plate 1x1 GBP 0.12 3005748 x2 Round Plate 1x1 GBP 0.12 70170 UltraCopter vs. AntiMatter -4211511 x1 Brick 1x1 With 4 Knobs GBP 0.30 4222960 x4 Round Plate 1x1 GBP 0.24 -4567340 x4 Nose Cone Small 1x1 0.44 -6103777 x4 AppBricks GBP 2.48 -6106812 x1 Round Plate Ø32x6.4, “No.18” GBP 1.48 Quote
Faefrost Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 The sets are only just barely starting to trickle out to their first stores. You probably have a few weeks before they start getting parted out and sold on Bricklink. And initial BL prices will be high until the sets reach full distribution. I would not count on any Ideas project utilizing or including App bricks. The point being the App bricks themselves are just a tool capable of reacting with a tablet screen. But to do anything they require software development. Which is not within the purvue of Ideas. Without App development the App bricks are just 1x1's that can click on your iPad icons. Quote
suenkachun Posted January 30, 2015 Author Posted January 30, 2015 (edited) Thank you for everyone's contribution. I have decided to buy all of the Bricks from the LEGO Website, where all of the Bricks I needed are currently available. The only extra thing to note is that unless you spend more that GDP 50.00 (check for yourself the amount for your currency), you have to include shipping fees. Mine is GDP 3.95 for the Bricks bought with the Pick A Brick Service, and for the special Bricks GDP 2.00 is already added to the bill. In my purchase, I decided to include Seven AppBricks. After looking at the five sets more carefully, two of them use four AppBricks each, one of them uses three AppBricks and the other two use two AppBricks each. Therefore, four AppBricks will be used for the two sets with four AppBricks each, while the other three AppBricks will be used for the remaining three sets. As you need to take apart the AppBricks to rebuild if you don't have 15 and having only four means lots of rebuilding, having seven AppBricks is a suitable number for me. I also took the opportunity to buy two other Bricks which I've always wanted. The total price of my order was about GDP 16. When the three future sets are out, I will do the same thing, but since I would then be owning Seven AppBricks, I will check how many AppBricks are needed in the new sets before I decide if I need to buy any more. suenkachun Posted February 11, 2015 Author Posted February 11, 2015 Things have gone really well, as all my Bricks have arrived. However, I would like to give a friendly reminder to everyone. Even if you try your best to get hold of just the five AppBrick Gadgets, there is still one thing which will restrict you. Currently, AppBrick Gadgets are only supported on Tablets! So you still need a Tablet in order to play with all the functions of the Second Ultra Agents App! If you download the App on a Smartphone, you'll end up with an Ultra Agents Comic Book App, where even the game is unplayable! Quote
Lyichir Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Somewhat off-topic, but I've wondered for a little while whether it would be possible for Lego fans to create some sort of homebrew software for tablets using the app bricks. After all, their conductivity and position is all that matters—they don't have to be limited to just Lego-produced apps. Quote
