TheDesuComplex Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 (edited) It does make for a confusing read, that is for sure. One of the many reasons I have moved away from that username on most sites. That's why you pick something cryptic while maintaining a sense of familiarity due to a general idea that it draws on. Just don't base it on a now 8-year-old anime meme. I just came to a thought today while looking at pictures of the Skull Army sets- could Grevious use the new skeleton-esque bone piece? Some parts of his limbs have a similar aesthetic and I think it could work pretty well if it was recolored in Dark Bley. Using this image of a game model specifically, I think it could work well for his thighs. The only issue I could see is it being too small, considering that this figure will cost $5 more than DV. Edit: Here is the mentioned image, and it was interesting that Mesonak offered the same idea offhandedly in TTV#132 (about 30 minutes in). Edited February 24, 2015 by TheDesuComplex Quote

I think its bare-bones look would work for him, and I feel that as far as price was concerned it would be offset by the multiple arms and digitigrade legs (not to mention being bolstered by friction extenders, probably at both ends, to support the arms and upper body). Sorry, I was using the price to refer to the size. I am expecting him to be bigger, if not the same size as, Darth Vader. Considering his multiple arms and guessing that he will use a gearbox for LIGHTSABER SWINGING ACTION, His chest might be a bit smaller than Darth Vader's. I was worried about how short the pieces might seem but the digitigrade legs would certainly help that. Quote
Shakar Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 I don't think any of these guys are using gearboxes. Compare the Superheroes (and most Chima Uktrabilds) to the HF sets and you'll see they focused less on function and more on the characters they tried (with.. ahem, debatable accuracy) to represent. I think we're going to see the same general idea with the SW figures compared to the BIONICLE sets. The gearbox would've worked perfectly combined with the lightsabers, yet neither or Luke or Vader feature it. So I think the core concept behind these is going be the exact opposite of LoSS and Scorpio: pure action figures that sacrifice any sort of function in the name of aesthetics. Again, whether they've been successful with Luke or not is debatable, but from what I've read here and in other forums it seems most agree that this philosophy paid off for Darth Vader. Quote
CabooseBM Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Can we freeze Shakar in carbonite for getting my hopes up for news? >=V Quote
Shakar Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 I would prefer a brickbuilt grave myself. With some Technic and CCBS pieces built in. Though seriously, I don't know why I replied after all this time. Just felt like writing something I guess. Sometimes I write a post, realize it's not relevant and delete it lol. Quote
Nekchir Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 It kinda sucks seeing this thread diminish into nothing. Though, there isn't much to go on besides those photos we got of Darth Vader and Skywalker. Anyways, is anyone planning to get all of these if not most of 'em? I really want to, but most of my budget is going into the summer Bionicle sets as well as Star Wars system ones. Quote
TheGreatSpirit Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 I know Darth Vader is a must have, and probably grevious as well (although we gotta wait for images). But besides that, Bionicle holds more priority for me atm. Quote
mysteriouspi Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 If Grievous has white shells, might get him. And Boba Fett if he's not Jango. Otherwise I'll be skipping most of these. Quote

Vinyl Scratch Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Kind of the fence with Grievous. Mostly the chest area. Quote
DuckBricks Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Huh, that's intersting. Hopefully we'll see more pics soon. Greivous seems to use the same piece used for the Bionicle skull warriors.... Quote
TheBrickPal Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Apparently, the rest will be revealed at Star Wars Celebration, as well as these two in the flesh. http://blogs.wsj.com/speakeasy/2015/04/15/heres-your-first-look-at-lego-star-wars-buildable-figures-of-obi-wan-kenobi-and-general-grievous/ Quote
Leewan Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Wow, dem recolors. I'm kinda disappointed by Grievous, but I love Obi-Wan. Quote
DraikNova Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Oh god. So much TAN!!! I kinda want Grievous now. He's got great parts. They only way this could be better was if we got either black or light grey versions of the smallest upper limb bone again. And Obi-Wan brings us a new shoulder armor piece, which looks like a less bulbous version of the Breakout one! Yay, my wishes have been granted. Plus, white Kaiju talons and 6m shells (Obi-Wan) and light grey smallest limb pieces (Grievous). Quote
Voxovan Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 That Grievous... is awful. Obi-Wan looks surprisingly good, but I'm gonna skip him anyway. Quote
DuckBricks Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 (edited) Ah, the tan is just great , though. Might pick him up just for that, despite the fact that Greivous reminds me just slightly of the shady CCBS builds of some the superhero constraction figs, esp like Cap. America.... mysteriouspi Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Tan? And more tan? Heck yes! Glad to see Grievous using an opaque Skull Villains torso, though I'm surprised (and a tad disappointed) that he doesn't seem to have any of their bone pieces. Obi-Wan looks to be the better of the two overall. Can't say I like his new shoulder armor, but I do like his leg and knee armor. Hope Cody looks at least as good as him. Also hope Cody has lots of nice orange parts... Quote
DOTM Shockwave Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Obi-wan is amazing, Grievous doesn't look as good as I imagine, but he still looks good. Both are going to be bought by me. Quote
Ikaatril Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Grievous is excellent. Obi-Wan is... unfortunate, to say the least. Human head, exposed limbs, unfortunate crotch area. On the bright side, lots of tan, at least one new shell, two new shell add-ons... that's a lot for one wave of CCBS sets. Beginning to think LEGO has plans for another wave of Star Wars CCBS if this wave is successful. Quote
Nekchir Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Grievous would've looked better with a more compact upper-torso. Quote
Dr_Chronos Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Gonna have to get both to satisfy my thirst for taaaaaaaaaan. But Obiwan definatley looks better and YES! a brown cape! Quote
The Kumquat Alchemist Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Those are some sexy tan shells. Quote
Lord-Vorahk Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 All I'm missing from Grievous is a cape. Quote
Risgrynsgrot Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 All I'm missing from Grievous is a cape. I agree, he looks naked. Quote
