Lancethecat Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 I'm going to the movies this weekend, and I'm still not sure which movie I'm going to see. My top two choices right now are Unbroken (based on the true story of Olympic runner/World War II survivor Louis Zamperini) and The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies (based on the last third of the beloved fantasy novel), but I've also heard that The Imitation Game is really good. Any recommendations? Quote
Tarfful Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 I'd go with The Imitation Game personally.. TH:BotFA was a big dissapointment for me and Unbroken never really caught my eye. just my 2cents. |Tarfful Quote
The_Chosen_1 Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 Why does this need its own topic....? Quote
Lancethecat Posted January 21, 2015 Author Posted January 21, 2015 Why does this need its own topic....? Sorry... I didn't know if there was a topic that could fit this question. The Hobbit seems like it would be the most cinematic (the destruction of Lake-Town would look really eye-popping on the big screen), but Jackson's Hobbit movies have so far been a mixed bag for me, with things like Benedict Cumberbatch as Smaug mixed up with things like the elf/dwarf love triangle subplot and Radagast's bunny sled. Unbroken sounds really interesting, but I've heard it wasn't as good as people expected it to be. The Imitation Game is by far the most well-received of the movies, but I don't think it would make much difference if I saw it in theaters or at home. Quote
