Lego and SimCity....could it ever happen or work out well?

Here's a thought that I have had for a while. I don't know if any of you is familiar with the SimCity or city-building games in general but, what if there was a Lego city-builder? Could such a video game ever happen or work out? Or would it not work out? Just curious :).

Im from the Simcity background before i returned to lego.... that's too deep down the rabbit hole. this is one step deeper, building brick by brick whereas Simcity is building streets, towns, cities, suburbs. the scales is out of proportion.

Isn't that pretty much what Lego Fusion Town Master is? It's not the best city-building game (or the best Lego game for that matter), but I think it's the closest we will ever get to a Lego SimCity.

Multiplayer: In those first twelve months of prototyping did you know you were going to stick with the LEGO City brand or were you just building a LEGO game that morphed into the City brand?

Doyle: Well no, for a few years beforehand we'd been talking to LEGO about doing a LEGO City game, and we didn’t really know what that game was going to be. We were sort of going down the road of it being a construction game, where it was more about building, like a "SimCity" style game. We weren't really sure what it was going to be, but we knew we wanted to make a game based on the LEGO City franchise from the beginning; it was definitely always about LEGO City. It was only really as we started to prototype it that it turned into a full, open world game.

There's also LEGO Creator and LEGO Loco from 1998, but they're more about free building than simulation. And of course, a LEGO city builder could be much more advanced today than in 1998.

I've never been too much into SimCity, though I've touched a couple of the older ones once or twice. The Legoland Game from a while back allowed you to manage your own theme park...We played that game to death. It's been a while since I played either of those but I'd think the gameplay concepts are a bit similar.

And Oh. My. Gosh. LEGO Creator...I totally forgot about that. That's another one we played all the time. Good memories, lol.
