dr_spock Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 (edited) You can use Technics parts for train MOC like motors, axles, gears, pins, technic bricks, etc. I really like trains especially Canadian pacific & Canadian national. Has anyone made a gp9, gp7, gp38-2 or any big locos like an es44dc? Come over to the Train forum. There are MOCs of those engines. The 60052 is pretty easy to MOD into a toy GP38. 60052 Cargo Train MOD by dr_spock_888, on Flickr Edited January 17, 2015 by dr_spock Quote
Bricktrain Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 The Mearsk engine is an awesome piece, but you dont necessarily have to pay exorbitant prices, you could build it in alternative colours, more of my trains here http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=494578 Quote
aminnich Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 Do you know the specific scale of LEGO trains? Quote

camaudio Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 I have been so tempted to break into trains, but its hard with how great technic is doing right now. Quote
andythenorth Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 (edited) Do you know the specific scale of LEGO trains? Nah, there isn't one. Everything is compressed differently in each dimension, similar to City vehicles, and to art in computer games etc. Some AFOLs build to specific scale, 1 stud = [some amount]. Also some people call the track 'L Gauge'. Edited January 17, 2015 by andythenorth Quote
skriblez Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 I have a few but no place for them atm. Will probably come more when i get a more suited Lego room :) I do like the Maersk train but not for the price it goes for these days :( Quote
aminnich Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 Ok, thanks anyway. I was hoping I could run LEGO trains on my model train track. How cool would that be!! Ya well Quote
davidmull Posted January 17, 2015 Author Posted January 17, 2015 By all means, do look it up: http://www.ibrickcity.com/wp-content/gallery/lego-3677/lego-3677-city-red-cargo-train-ibrickcity-7.jpg I was looking at Maersk long and hard, the engine in this set is a piece of art. But the entire rest is kind of like "meh", there is no single PF element nor a piece of track included, and it costs a kidney. I got 3677 for two thirds of Maersk's price. I like the maersk. I also like the yellow cargo train 7939 lovely looking set. Quote
Sariel Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 I also like the yellow cargo train 7939 lovely looking set. I've seen that one but only the Octan car caught my eye. Quote
davidmull Posted January 17, 2015 Author Posted January 17, 2015 I've seen that one but only the Octan car caught my eye. I just love yellow so it caught mine and yes octane cart very nice. I can buy a new sealed maersk for €190 is that expensive? I'll probably start with the new cargo train 60052 first. Quote
Edwin Korstanje Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 Last Legoworld 2014 in the Netherlands haved Bricksonwheels build this amazing big scale model train diesel enige  . Quote
andythenorth Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 (edited) I do like the Maersk train but not for the price it goes for these days :( I've got about 80% of one in the lego room in our loft. The kids smashed it pretty quickly. Got an Emerald Night that my two-year old totalled as well, and they've had a little go at smashing the two sets of Horizon Express Edited January 17, 2015 by andythenorth Quote

KirTech LAB Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 (edited) I think trains and technic combination is really great idea! Maybe somebody remember my attempt to do this in Triple Build contest - it was very funny! Trains with technic functions are much more interesting! Edited January 18, 2015 by desert752 Quote

Blakbird Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 Last Legoworld 2014 in the Netherlands haved Bricksonwheels build this amazing big scale model train diesel enige  . I really love that model because Burlington Northern is right next to my office and I see these engines every single day. The most amazing part to me is that Bricksonwheels managed to build this in another country without ever seeing the original. Quote
Edwin Korstanje Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 I thought he haved contact with them and got the blueprints and all the info Blakbird . Quote
