ritztoys Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 Hello Builders, I've had this MOC for awhile and felt the original bucket looked too small, so I added the Volvo Bucket New installation next to former assembly Full 'back' tip in upper most position Full 'dump' position Front view, looks good in my book One good looking side view I had no issues changing the bucket, but wanted to retain the original bucket arms with all the gearing for the LAs My problem was I spent several hours re-engineering the geometries for the bucket operation to full up to full down without "locking up", and I succeeded. I used a 2 each of a 2 x 4 liftarm inside of the bucket attachment points and faced the 2x forward allowing additional tipping angle, this made all the difference. Also fulcrum points were lengthened to make full movements of the bucket, I can't tell how many times I built and re-built this to get everything working right! Quote
D3K Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 Wow, that's one awesome looking loader! Holy crap that bucket is huge! I can't tell how many times I built and re-built this to get everything working right! I'm really glad you found a solution that works better than the original design! Like I mentioned earlier, I myself can't remember having any problems or lock-ups, but I've read some other people complaining about the same thing Perhaps you could make a quick model of the revamped arm in LDD or LDraw, and I could then make an addendum to the already existing instructions, suggesting to redo the front? Also; could you get a picture of the arm in the lowermost position, bucket fully tilted back? Quote
ritztoys Posted January 13, 2015 Author Posted January 13, 2015 (edited) D3K..........here are 'some' pictures requested, my Laptop takes its' time to recognize my micro SD card, so not all pictures are available............. ritztoys Posted January 14, 2015 Author Posted January 14, 2015 Thanks............. D3K deserves the thanks for designing this loader, it so very different from any loader I've seen. I use this great MOC as my " Loader Demonstrator " during my display at my local Lug show in March every year. I just needed a larger bucket to WOW the public better, it can hold more Lego Boulders.
