Octan issn't the only brand in town. there are still some small shell gasstations around. here is one.

I have combined the 31026 bikeshop and cafe with a couple of shell polybags to build this mudular:

I wassent able to make the levels detachable unfortunately.

Very nice. But where folks put gas stations is up to local city zoning laws. Maybe this city just didn't notice.

Great station anyway.

Nice looking modular there. The gas station outfitting is propably a tad too modern (as lightningtiger pointed out, stations like that were common in the early 20th century), but who cares?

I would bet that you can still find a gas station like that somewhere even today.

How many extra bricks (apart from the shell related bricks) did you use for the building itself compared to the oroginal Bike Shop & Cafe?

Nice modular, i like it.

In 1998 i was in Paris and i saw in the downtown a gas station like this. I was very surprised, but it does exist (or did exist) in a big city like Paris as well.

In Brussels these type of gas station can still be found (and quite a lot of them tbh). But, in most cases they are found street-corners.

Nice build btw! Added to favorites.

I had to use some dark gray tiles extra, a base plate, 4 black 1x6x5 bricks to close the walls and 4 1x2x2 technic bricks and 2 pins.

Nice station! Do you have a Flickr account? Would be glad to have it in the Gas Stations Group over there.

No i don't have a flickr account sorry.

Building this i wassn't really thinking about it being all period correct. I just wanted to create an idea i had.

thanks for the great comments.

If certain battery research projects go well (for real cars and bikes, not lego..), maybe this is the future: a plug-in, rapid charging station for electric cars and bikes, which would fit well in a normal city block.

And you can bet that Shell, BP, Chevron will all jump on the bandwagon and offer those.

So, rather than early XX century, this scene could become late XXI century :)

..but no, still no individual flying DeLorean cars, sorry.

IMHO

1.- A workshop or a 24/7 shop could be more accurate than a Gas Station.

2.- Classic "Texaco" pumps fit better in a modular street than nowadays ones.

Indeed in European cities you can still find small stations in the middle of residential buildings.

Though that usually those that I see are rather on corners, and "under" a building rather than directly on the street; e.g. two small ones in Brussels:

there are a lot similar to that here.

that could also be a nice modular project!

Yeah, there ARE some buildings with gas stations under. I would love if LEGO really releases a set with that. One bigger gas station with apartments and other interesting features that usually are in modular buildings, great set idea.
