MAB Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 All I'm wishing for is a Zombie Bride like the one in MF 9465, since I missed the set and for some reason that particular minifig is sold around 40€ on Bricklink... I doubt it will come in here, since there is already the Zombie cheerleader. Quote
Kraby Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 I doubt it will come in here, since there is already the Zombie cheerleader. I totally agree with you on that. But hey, after all, that's why it's a wish. Quote
SkyHighPixel Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 (edited) Since it seems like they're making previous minifigs into monsters they might possibly make the bride from series 7 into some sort of monster. it would be really cool to see her as a ghost! deskp Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 ^ Pretty sure we knew it was gonna be halloween themed sicne before the pictures leaked. Quote

8BrickMario Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 Before the pictures leaked, everyone thought it was a Scooby-Doo series. Once the pictures leaked, we realized that some of the characters (Tiger Girl, Man-eating Plant Guy) were obvious costumes. Quote

Once the pictures leaked, we realized that some of the characters (Tiger Girl, Man-eating Plant Guy) were obvious costumes. I didn't think it was a Scooby Doo series... Why would we get a full wave of sets and a CMF series? Quote
8BrickMario Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 Somehow the rumor got out of hand and everyone equated "monsters" to "Scooby". And now we know it's more general than either of the two. I like the real monsters more than the costumes, though, since the costumes have proven to be rather obvious so far. Quote
Sven F Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 I hope this doesn't turn into more seasonal CMF's My town can only take so many santas and carol singing cops. Quote
vexorian Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 Let this be a seasonal CMF thing! - The completely random CMF concept is tired. - Not every kid had access to all seasonal themes and this is a great way to give them minifigs. - I don't have access to much advent stuff, so I'd love a Christmas one :/ Quote
8BrickMario Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 I don't know about seasonal. I think this is just LEGO taking advantage of the perfect opportunity to run a Scooby-Doo theme, a Halloween CMF series both around Halloween time. I still don't believe that this series releases in October. By the three-month shelf life pattern, the Simspons series 2 should be on its way out and replaced by 14 in August, and it will run through October. If it's released in October, it doesn't give people nearly as much time to collect them before Halloween (LEGO releases seasonal characters in their CMF series in plenty of time for the holiday it corresponds to), and it would be stupid for the series to still be in stores during November and December. Unless they plan to sell Simpsons S2 for a longer time or they leave a gap between it and S14, there's no reason it would come out in October. Quote
Ardelon Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 Before the pictures leaked, everyone thought it was a Scooby-Doo series. Once the pictures leaked, we realized that some of the characters (Tiger Girl, Man-eating Plant Guy) were obvious costumes. Nah, I dont think there were only a few guys who thought it could be Scooby series, and this rumor was shot down pretty quickly. I think a bigger controversy was whather it was going to be a Monster Fighter series (equally inlikley) or a full-on horror series (no costumed kids); I even half-jokingly suggested a full-on halloween series (no real monsters). The answer was somewhere in between - TLG managed to surprise us all, I guess. Quote
Yooha Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 Halloween-themed means both costumed characters and monsters, not just monsters alone. Maybe the rest will be two monsters and two costumed characters. Actually Halloween should mean only costumed characters and no monsters, since there are no monsters even at Halloween. :) Quote
8BrickMario Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 Well, monsters are celebrated on Halloween...maybe the real monsters are blending into the costumed trick-or-treaters? Quote
Rogue Angel Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 People keep saying the skeleton guy has the wrong head, but this is clearly a Halloween costume - fits perfectly with the series. Also, I think the series have been improving over time, not getting tiring. Series 10 is my favorite to date, but S13 was pretty fantastic as well. Quote
8BrickMario Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 It's just that the head doesn't appear to relate to the costume-or anything else. He should have a skull-shaped mask of some sort. Quote
vexorian Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 Actually Halloween should mean only costumed characters and no monsters, since there are no monsters even at Halloween. :) They are all costumes. Some of the costumes are just very good. Quote
telaruhn Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 I'll be honest - Halloween is the only seasonal theme I can think of that could be a CMF series. No other seasonal theme has enough unreleased characters to warrant it. However, I'm concerned for it's release and shelf-life - A September release gives us plenty of time to nab all 16 before Halloween, but what will sales be like after October? I only say this because they usually run the four-month market gamut, and I'm just not sure how well Halloween-themed figures will sell into Christmas time... The fact this is series 14 is interesting - and I'm rather certain we'll see more themed series that use the numbering system just because of it. It would be odd for it to be a one-off thing for just series 14, but who knows. Quote
legofanatic12 Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 (edited) Actually Halloween should mean only costumed characters and no monsters, since there are no monsters even at Halloween. :) While the 3 zombies, werewolf, purple witch, lady vampire, and a rocker monster are just regular people in make up not like the monsters from MF Theme are actually monsters. Edited February 14, 2015 by legofanatic12 Quote
Robert8 Posted February 14, 2015 Author Posted February 14, 2015 I think this will be a mix of costumed characters and real monsters... The Good Witch doesn't look like a costume to me.... If she is a costumed character, LEGO would have made it more obvious. I mean, we would need to read her bio to check if she is a costumed character, other way would be impossible to know it. Same with the Lady Vampire/Spider. And if the Zombie Cheerleader is wearing a costume.... that girl has some major makeup skills . She is even missing a tooth. IMO: Costumes: Tiger Girl, Plant Guy Monsters: Good Witch, Lady Vampire, Zombies, Rocker Monster and Werewolf #2 The Crazy Scientist #2 looks weird... I think he is costume but I don't know. The skeleton guy is missing a headpiece, maybe a mask resembling a skull. Quote
AyliffeMakit Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Just a thought: maybe the main reason we're getting a full-on Halloween series is because of a Halloween-themed world in that Lego Minifigures Online game that nobody plays? Quote
Sven F Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 I think it's partly due to market research that shows kids like mildly scary things in recent years, at least from my experience, there is a big rise in popularity of Mattel's "monster high" dolls and this is just catering to the market. "Scary" is the first innocent step to teenage rebellion as it's a contrast to pink, yellow and shiny. I would be slightly but not overly surprised if this was actually named Halloween since that is a US thing, while the rest of the world still has some version of Dia de los muertos in October, not sure the whole monsters or costumes discussion has much point since such details vary around the world. Quote
9v system Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 before they release this series they will have to make available in that stupid online game. which nobody I know plays. Quote
Robert8 Posted February 15, 2015 Author Posted February 15, 2015 Although it was mentioned in the press release, it seems this series isn't at the NY Toy Fair... I was wondering if these minifigures will get proper names or generic ones. Could they be called Crazy Scientist #2, Witch#2, Werewolf #2, Zombie #2, Monster #2,...? Quote
