stackables Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 I am looking to buy some Batman 1 figs specifically the original Bane. I am pretty sure there are counterfeit/fakes of these out there and want to make sure I get an authentic one. If the figs are machine printed, is there anyway to tell if they are counterfeit? Anything to look for. Any tips especially for Bane would be apprecited. Quote
ReplicaProfile Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 (edited) On most knockoff figures I notice that the legs are often cut in an odd (roundish) shape and the parts look like they don't properly fit. Edited January 18, 2015 by TrentonC Quote
bitbang Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 My younger cousins have the first Bane. If I knew where it was I would snap a pic for you. If I get my hands on it, I will :) Quote
Robianco Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 (edited) Of all the bootleg figure makers the 2 companies that have better quality are Decool and SY... Neither of these have made a classic Bane figure. Decool figures have sharp shoulders and their hip joints are a different mould to Lego's so you spot that a mile away. SY have very accurate leg moulds now (their early legs had cut-off toes), their torsos are very accurate now but the inner threads to hold the leg joints are straight instead of angled... Most of their shoulders are much thicker than regular Lego though so that's another thing to look for. Most print on bootlegs are slightly matt in both colour and texture so it's another thing to watch for. A company called Dargo has just made a replica of this Bane but believe me when I say you'd spot it a mile away as a fake. If you want to buy one I'd head to BrickLink as that's somewhere that's pretty safe for figure purchases. Edited January 3, 2015 by Robianco Quote
