If the news of brickshelf being gone permanently is true, then we still have hope. As stated on BZPower, Brickshelf's sister website Maj.com is still operational. So reviews can continue, images can be spread, but it will take some time. Our precious mocs that we took photos of and posted on brickshelf, then took apart will probably be lost, but as sw4j said, they might still retrieve some photos. Just to calm everyone down a little bit more besides the frontpage news, which I cannot post this in, I do not have permission. And I am not very ranked.

Regards,

Why can't you mention BPZ? :-D I mean I assume that's where you're talking about...

Yeah, maj has been mentioned as an alternative (though people will be scared to use that, since the sister site was deleted with no warning. It was a horrible business move, because now the one remaining site will have a lot of pissed off users, and users just scared to use it at all!

Other alternatives are things like flickr, which I really dislike. It's too slow, and makes wading through a lot of pictures a chore. Besides that there are things like photobucket which has two of the same problems flickr had: non-lego and fairly slow loading times.

Hopefully this will bring the fan community together to create another site, another version of brickshelf, that will remain online as long as there are AFOLS, and enthusiasts in general. And you never know, there's always the chance it will come back!

I know you put this here because it was a reaction to the front page, but I feel the subject is much more pertinent to the lego hobby, so I'm moving this to the General forum :-) And thanks for your input!

It's BZP, not BPZ. And I changed it. I guess that I was mistaken.

I agree, but If we don't do something, banner and avatar shops in BZP and reviews will be in the bin, and websited will lose popularity.

If AFOLS do create another website, then maybe hope will be restored, but will it live up to brickshelf?

Thanks for moving it and not closing the topic.

Mocpages has a message, that they're working on the brickshelf/image problems. This gives me some hope. if brickshelf gets backed up again, I'll immediately backup my whole gallery, so that I won't get into such trouble again.
