TheCloneWalker Posted July 14, 2007 Posted July 14, 2007 This looks great. However, may I suggest changing the yellow bricks to white ones? Other than that, It's lookin' fine. Blacksmith On! *knight* TheCloneWalker Quote
Asuka Posted July 14, 2007 Posted July 14, 2007 A very neat house with a nice story! *y* Your MFs look really good as well, and that color scheme is fine to me. Quote
Timento Posted July 14, 2007 Posted July 14, 2007 Nice house you got there, Mr Tiber. I really like the colors and it really has that medieval feeling *y* *y* *y* I really like the story too, when will Part 2 be up? Quote
El Bucanero Posted July 14, 2007 Author Posted July 14, 2007 Thanks for your positive comments! Mr Clone Walker, I used yellow because of a severe lack of white bricks, and because I thouhgt that's kinda pathetic, I'll go to LEGOland Germany were they have a very big PaB. So you can expect more and bigger Castle Creations from me in the future! *knight* Mr Timento, as soon as I found a way to acces the log cabin, part II will be up! A little explanation on the stairs: As you can see, you have to get on the roof of the log cabin before you can acces the second floor, this is because according to the story, the building began as a solely a log cabin. The builders of the house tought it was good like it was and didn't change it. Mr Tiber Quote
Lt. Col. Thok Posted July 14, 2007 Posted July 14, 2007 Nice! just a suggestion, but the house itself can be made into a pretty awesome blockhouse (see here for proof). I think that would make the story more interesting. Quote
SirNadroj Posted July 14, 2007 Posted July 14, 2007 Awesome little house, Mr Tiber! *y* I like the colour scheme a lot! :-) Quote
ZeekyBoogeyDoog Posted July 14, 2007 Posted July 14, 2007 Nice house *y* ! I think the yellow might look better than white, anyway. My only suggestion would be to put a roof over the log cabin, so that way the brothers would be sheltered from the elements when they want to go to the second floor. Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted July 14, 2007 Posted July 14, 2007 Nice job Mr. T. I really like the classic yellow and red roofed buliding. It would fit in very nicely next to the existing blacksmith shop. It reminds me of the old yellow castle. I like how you added the wooden structure, but did you consider perhaps building it with grey bricks? Not sure your brick selection. You could possibly add a door/additional windows which would add some nice detail. In any case, very nice. *y* *y* Quote
El Bucanero Posted July 14, 2007 Author Posted July 14, 2007 (edited) Thanks for your feedback! Hmmm, you look like you know how part II will be! :-P Nice job Mr. T. I really like the classic yellow and red roofed buliding. It would fit in very nicely next to the existing blacksmith shop. Hmmm, building with gray, that wouldn't really fit with the history of the log cabin huh? But I like the idea of Mr Thok, although I don't know if it's historically correct... Anyway, part II won't be up until I've gathered me an army of castle figs (living AND skellies) so that might take a while. Mr Tiber (going castle) *knight* Edited July 14, 2007 by Mr Tiber Quote
Starwars4J Posted July 14, 2007 Posted July 14, 2007 This is quite a nice MOC here! What I really love about this, what stands out more than anything is the backstory. I love how you built your MOC around a backstory and actually gave it quirks to mirror what would happen in real life! The MOC itself is great, but that gives it more life. As for the actual MOC, I wish we could see an inside (is there a way to access the inside?). Also I think you might've run into a problem common among castle builders...the big gray wall syndrome. Now you may ask "But Justin, there's NO gray in this! Are you going crazy? *wacko* " And you're be right! Er, not about me going crazy, about no gray :-D I think all the brown needs to be broken up with...SOMETHING. Now I don't want to take away from the brown, since you'd want an all-wood wall. Maybe break it up with some one-stud-wide columns that have something on them, like a hook, or maybe even a window that's four studs? Also I'm not sure if it was done back then, but if it was, maybe some sort of decoration on the first floor roof might liven it up a bit? A plant or two, or maybe just a hoe or shovel laying outside. Maybe a pile of wood for the fire, to keep it away from wild animals? I don't know. Mr Tiber (going castle) *knight* Yes...once you start down the castle path, forever will it dominate your destiny *yoda* That or space ;-) Quote

I also had a feeling the walls would suffer from the big gray wall syndrome... I agree it should be more detailed.. Maybe a pile of wood for the fire, to keep it away from wild animals? I don't know. Part from story:But for unknown reasons they left the house and took everything with them, including the furniture. But they had forgot about the big weapon supply at the attic. ;-) Okay, this was actually more an excuse to the fact there's no furniture or other decorations in it, I still have to get some. But everything will change when I go to the PaB in LEGOland Germany! Yes...once you start down the castle path, forever will it dominate your destiny *yoda* That or space ;-) Let's hope the second huh! :-D Mr Tiber Quote
Starwars4J Posted July 14, 2007 Posted July 14, 2007 I also had a feeling the walls would suffer from the big gray wall syndrome... I agree it should be more detailed.. Perhaps a chimney? ;-) Okay, this was actually more an excuse to the fact there's no furniture or other decorations in it, I still have to get some. Wout Posted July 14, 2007 Posted July 14, 2007 Nice moc with a nice story *y* :-) It only reminds me of some horror movies where some people tries to survive from gigantic armies of ( add something here you like, like zombies or werewolves) . So I'm interrested in the ending. Quote
Norro Posted July 14, 2007 Posted July 14, 2007 A good start! Yellow is notoriously hard to work with (and in my humble opinion necessitates scenery to 'ground' it). I really like the way you have built a classic interchangeable MOC (Pirate/castle) I used to do that a lot with my tudor buildings. Keep up the good work! God Bless, Nathan Quote
El Bucanero Posted December 20, 2007 Author Posted December 20, 2007 Big bump... But what in EB's name has ever happened to the story?*wacko* *wacko* It seems... gone, and I don't recall deleting it myself. Mysterious... *skull* Quote
SlyOwl Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 So are you going to fix it or not? Have you still got this built? There is scope for a great interior! ;-) SlyOwl Quote
Indy565 Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 Very nice MOC Mr. Tiber! It's very colorful! Quote
