Chimaninja454 Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 Ordered my copies of Gali. Kopaka. Tahu and the Protectors of Fire and Ice online in the LEGO Shop.. Really hyped now.... #bonkle #okoto Quote
MakutaOfWar Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 Picked up Tahu, he is in front of me now still in the box. I'm too excited to do anything. :S Quote
Kalhiki Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 ... I got all the sets today. Only opened POS and Pohatu, and they're both wonderful dudes. I ended up raising Pohatu's shoulders a module. They just looked kinda weird sitting that low. But yeah, awesomeness is everywhere. Bionicle is officially here. Quote
NKD Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 (edited) I preferred the designs of the older bionicle as opposed to the HF, and these seem more inspired by HF with some remnants of the toa nuva sets... they also seem like a step back from the legends series in armor design. Granted, so were the stars sets, but they still had a cool look, thus I don't think i'll be buying any of these... Also, I think Lego forgot something integral to Bionicle, menacing evil. The skull spiders look easy to kill and remind me of the brain attack from HF. Even the Skull Spider Lord thing isn't that menacing, and it's hard for me not to laugh when I think of how they thought this would be a main villian. I enjoyed the Bohrok so much for the reason that they looked menacing, they were seeming unkillable, and there were limitless ammounts of them. These villains seem like the added masks from toa mata and nuva... Side note, they should bring back the bohrok. I think I'd buy those... Edited January 3, 2015 by NKD Quote
Nekchir Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 (edited) So I ended up ordering the rest of the Toa that I was missing at Walmart.com. Though, I would'a gotten them earlier if I spent the energy going to Target and stuff. Nothing groundbreaking, I know, but I might as well post something. Edited January 3, 2015 by MonkeyChud Quote

I actually thought the same thing at the beginning, but these sets are really amazing. I hated HF and every set I bought, but these sets somehow capture the charm that BIONICLE Gen 1 had. Sure, it uses CCBS; sure, they look different. But it still FEELS like BIONICLE. I highly suggest that you give the new sets a try. Of course, you're entitled to your opinion, but at least try them. Creature Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 (edited) Ok so, I picked up my first batch of sets yesterday on the first. Unfortunately, even after hearing from many of you in the topic about having luck with early purchases at Target, my local one only had LOSS, the one set I definitely know I am not getting. Anyway, picked up Pohatu, Gali, and Tahu from Toys-R-US. After being hyped for them since the first weeks, you can bet I was excited building them. I have to agree with VBBN, Gali is my favorite so far. That new azure color for the shells is just so beautiful. None of the pictures online do it justice compared to what it looks like in person. I was honestly disappointed that the set only came with four of them. I don't understand why they didn't use another one of the 5 length azure shells for her back armor instead of the 3 length trans lite blue one. Its a nice color and I like its use elsewhere in the set, but a three length shell just seems to small for adequate back armor. Pohatu is great, I really have nothing I would have improved on him. After a half hour of tinkering with him, I agree with everyone else who's said that integrating his gear function into his legs would have been awkward and impractical. On the rare occasion I've put the boomerangs on his feet, I've much preferred the front folded configuration seen in his animated character short to the hover board version seen on all the packaging. Now onto Tahu. For obvious nostalgic purposes, this one was really special for me. His build feels good and solid and I appreciate getting six of the new piston add-ons in gold through only one set. Unfortunately however, Tahu is also the set I have the biggest problem with. Unlike the others, his gear function does not have enough friction to keep his arms up when using the large fire swords. Has anyone else encountered this difficulty yet? The fire swords are obviously large pieces so I was wondering why Lego didn't use the excellent four friction gear set up they applied to Gali. Actually tried that mod out for myself this morning, but it didn't seem to really help. Is anyone else having problem's with Tahu's function not having enough friction? CabooseBM Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 Try using Onua's gear set up, using a y-socket and ball to give it friction. Quote
Voxovan Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 New Bionicle sets are available in my country in Lego Shop... but I have to pay half of the price more because of the shipping... DANG IT Lego, well, looks like I'll have to wait until February then... Quote

Chimaninja454 Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 Voxovan. I'm really happy to hear from you. My Gali. Kopaka. Tahu and the Protectors of Fire and Ice are coming soon to my apartment. I'm a Kurd but lives in Denmark. So. your country is blessed.... Quote
TheOneVeyronian Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 I built the Bionicles I had bought the other day, and honestly, I've fallen in love all of them, so much so that I had to then go and order Kopaka, Gali and PoS. Rather ironically, the two I said I was going to buy first, Tahu and Pohatu, are now my last Toa left to buy. I haven't felt this way about a LEGO theme in years if I'm honest. To try and solve Lewa's lack of neck articulation, I lowered his gearbox by one module (which is actually quite difficult to do while maintaining his aesthetic!). I'll try to upload some pictures showing my Lewa's new look a bit later if anybody's interested. I'm probably also going to swap out Onua's gold for silver as soon as I can get myself some extra silver piston add-ons (which might be a while, the service I usually use to purchase extra CCBS parts is down until February ). Mutant Orc Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 (edited) I've swapped the gold out for silver to see what the result would be and it tidies the colour scheme up and makes him fit with the PoE a lot better. It makes him a lot more somber and serious looking too. Edited January 3, 2015 by Mutant Orc Quote
Voxovan Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 I just bought ALL OF THEM. I spent all of my money and a little bit of my parents' money on plastic bricks... but who cares, it's Bionicle after all. Quote

Although I didn't have quite enough to get Tahu and the PoF- I could've gotten one or the other but I didn't want to split the pairs. I'll have enough money by the end of the month though for sure. Its money well spent though, these sets are great. Any flaws seen in the photos and reviews seem a lot less noticeable in hand when the abundant positives shine through. This is exactly what I thought, and it made me love CCBS even more. I was a Hero Factory fan, so I've always liked CCBS, but it astounds me how much these sets feel like Bionicle and not, as some say, Hero Factory with the Bionicle name slapped on. It's just incredible, and I don't think I'll ever get over that fact. I may have only opened POS and Pohatu, but already Bio15 has knocked it out of the ballpark. Quote
TheOneVeyronian Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 If anybody wants to see what Lewa looks like with a lowered gearbox (and how to construct it), I did these quick photos to show it: Lewa Master of Jungle Shoulder Modification by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr Lewa Master of Jungle Shoulder Modification (construction close-up) by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr It does mean Lewa loses some of his simian aesthetic, but it does give his head much more room to move and he can pull off a flying pose much better. Now if I can just find a way to bring his arms back up to neck joint level without raising the gearbox... Quote
Agent Fusion Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 I downloaded the new game, and I'm thoroughly impressed. It's like Diablo crossed with Whack-A-Mole, in a good way. Quote
PenPlays Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 I got Tahu and Kopaka yesterday. I was brought back by how large Tahu is! I just hope the rest of Toa are relatively close in scale. Kopaka is really cool as well (no pun intended). Really excited to see where this theme is going. Quote

Now if I can just find a way to bring his arms back up to neck joint level without raising the gearbox... Y'know, you could've just lowered the gearbox without needing to add/modify anything. The only issue I had was that the Kaiju fin back armor kinda bangs around where the shoulder armor mounts attach, but it still holds together. Granted, your method does leave the shoulder armor in its regular position. Having said that, obviously I opened Lewa (along with POJ). Both are wonderful. Not sure if I like having Lewa's shoulders lowered, but for the sake of head articulation, I'm keeping it that way. Quote

Yeah, it's one of those sets where it's basically one thing or the other, impossible to have both. I like his raised shoulders too but disliked the amount of head articulation. I'm still trying to brainstorm solutions that result in high shoulders and good head movement (asides from removing the brain stalk) without making Lewa look ridiculous, but so far, nothing. Quote
GK733 Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 Made up some wild LDD MOCery with leaked name list. The scorpio is basicly an enlarged version of the ones after Pohatu with an homage to Nui-Jaga. http://imgur.com/a/0SDoW Quote
